FFXI Echoes of Vana'diel discount campaign frustration.

I'm not usually one to come and gripe on the forums too often, but when I saw this I got excited. Now I'm not and once again annoyed that I got my hopes up.

The campaign is only for eligible new subscriptions and inactive/cancelled accounts and is only applicable to a singular month of game time.
This is such a waste and missed opportunity to support both games, especially considering both games' dwindling playerbase (FFXI more so than FFXIV of course).

Do you even listen or consider your players anymore? Why do you alienate the folks who have stuck with you for countless years?

Gotta say Im increasingly unimpressed lately with Square's choices.

Anyways, that's all Ive gotta say. If you disagree with my stance that's okay ^^ I hope my fellow WoL's have fun with whatever they are doing/playing!

When I saw this slide pop up I definitely got excited and thought they were finally merging the subs. It's a bit disappointing but good for the people who never played XI I guess.

Be aware the Campaign is short also, only a month. Running from Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. (PST) to Tuesday, March 11, at 1:00 a.m. (PDT)

Yeah, I was super hopeful it was finally going to be a merged subscription fee but NOPE!
From a business standpoint you would think they would want to have that extra cashflow coming in and I know so many folks who would gladly pay for a discounted FFXI sub added to their FFXIV sub for when there are major downtimes in FFXIV. I went back to FFXI recently for just such a reason. But this seems like a slap in the face. I just repurchased FFXI about two weeks ago because I wanted to start fresh instead of using my old character from the Abyssea days, and I am likely ineligible for this campaign...

When they said temporary I didn't even bother looking into it. I was playing EQ at the time XI came out so I never played it and I'd at least check it out if there were a combined permanent subscription.

I hope they use this as a possible test to give a permanent discount in the future if it brings in enough people and keep that $5.95 price permanently. Especially since they did the ff11 player survey they did a large amount of players said they would come back or play ff11 more often if there was a reduced sub cost or remove the sub fee.

Mine's inactive but it's not worth trying endure FF11's decades outdated QoL issues (that make you appreciate FF14's believe it or not) for just 1 month.
