Small rant about rudeness in game

I consider myself fortunate that I haven't come across too many toxic players. Still, I know they are not strawmen only making an appearance on these forums and reddit. I've seen the screenshots and videos of truly toxic players who make mountains out of molehills, and seem to only want to make things difficult for others.

I can tell you that because it is such a rare occurrence for me, and players are generally diplomatic, it drives me nuts when it does happen. Even if I am not the focus of the aggression, I try to make things civil, no matter how futile the effort. So when I can't, I take it pretty personally. It hasn't happened enough for me to be hardened by it.

I generally see the playerbase as friendly, and any of us can be having a bad day. That doesn't make rude behavior ok, but one thing I have noticed is that an aggressive player only becomes more so when aggression is the response to them. Doing this only serves to add fuel to their fire, and time to the run. I can't be bothered to try to live up to someone else's ridiculous standards. I know what I am there to do, and I can't do it while exchanging blows over party chat. So I tend to ignore it, and would consider leaving the instance if pressed further. Fortunately, it has not got to this point yet.

1. It's called RNG. The player with the highest lot wins every time. You don't have to like it, so SE gave you the option to win it 99 times for that mount, if this is what you're referring to. Though honestly I never found the logic in farming for a mount...then again I never played W.o.W.
2. I've been playing since ARR beta and never have I seen this nonsense. Though again, I don't play with a parser (PS3). Which means I don't waste my time nor loose my senses over how someone is performing. As long as the duty, trial, whatnot gets done. I'm satisfied with that.

Being bad at the game doesn't make someone rude. Some people just don't know any better.

Ignoring messages doesn't make you rude either. Sometimes players just don't see the messages.

I remember when I first did Thornmarch I didn't know that we could ignore the last two moogle tanks and move on to the king. So I kept attacking the tanks while someone in chat kept shouting "STOP! STOP! HELP KILL THE KING!" I didn't see the messages because I was new at the game, back then I couldn't read the chat while fighting because I was always too nervous to take my eyes off the mobs. I'm sure that person thought I was being an idiot but I was genuinely trying my best. After the fight was over I read the messages and told my friend about it. She then explained that I could actually change my settings so that I got a noise notification every time someone sent a party message. Had it not been for her I probably would have screwed up a lot more. Unfortunately not everyone has a friend like that.

Fact:

1. When we play MMORPG we should keep in mind that it's an online game with so many "People" (a real person) not just NPC. So same as irl you may find people that you'll hate, it's depend on the Majority for vote kick/disband (Democracy lol)

2. Irl most peoples tend to hold back when they talk, but in-game most peoples just burst out what's in their mind, they have their own opinion and maybe different than you and when their opinion getting attacked it will trigger the argue button.

Tips :

1. Don't judge people just by only your own PoV when playing.

2. Keep a cool head when you think somebody rude to you and don't just going rude back to him/her, in most cases it causes a more trouble to the run.

3. It's good to learn how to persuade people kindly instead of burst out your emotion and opinion and say thank you if they do what you ask.

4. Mostly it easy to only use Logic in a solo game, but when it comes to Co-op or even MMO that's not enough

Like previously stated, initiate a vote kick and move on. Don't give into their toxicity or drama.

I tend to just laugh it off and kick. If it's extremely toxic, I will leave, timer or not. I don't have time for people's BS.

I suggest running with at least 1 person you know(I always run with a friend or my wife/family) so you have that edge with kicking. I cannot count the times I've had to leave because the other members won't kick the problem.

Putting words into my mouth. If a player actually doesnt respond, I won't care. This is about people who sits with the controller in their hand BARELY touching it. Please, dont put more words into my mouth.
However some people won't respond and it makes me curious if they just bot or not. Many times groups I've been in calling out bots and when we do they suddenly start moving, like actually moving and not some bot doing it for them.

Edit 2: Times when groups ask for no new person into a farm group, we keep asking who it is and the person completely ignores the whole group. On ps4? No, was actually on pc, so who here uses a pc without a keyboard? hmm? And on top of that not only ignoring questions, but the fact they come into a farm group and start wiping us. That's childish, selfish and not respectful at all.

So he chose that way instead of asking if any of us 3 knows a bit about WAR and could give a little hint at how to use the def CDs. I would have gladly explained it to him, but okay.

You see, some people in here are totally okay with this guys attitude, because he basically tells you to screw off and don't care about the others. But many on here doesn't do it, but they exist a lot more in game however, which is really bad.

I could be wrong, but I feel like anyone who can't be bothered to put any effort into playing the actual game is probably not hanging out on the forums. The people you're complaining about are very likely not the people who are complaining about elitists.

Actually, few of the people on this forum (met them on cross finder too actually) those who say people who actually tries are elitist, yes very much on this forum. Since the forum doesn't allow pointing out people, I wont do it. Yet they go in groups and begs for a kil or farm when they have absoluttely no clue what's going on. That is very selfish and rude.

Example 2: People who do roulettes who hit 1 button every 10-15 seconds or simply play like they using bot, totally unfair for others. This isn't about doing runs faster, this is about players who completely ignore others in the group. I simply dont mind a 40 min dungeon as people actually try to play.

This is why I go crying in a corner when people are busy with something else and can't form a premade with me.
Killing the second boss in Baelsar's Wall before he even has the chance to spawn adds is really nice, whereas sometimes randoms in Duty Finder are so nice to make you kill two add waves.

I know exactly what you mean and I am with you. Rudeness comes in many ways and manipulating the dungeon run for 3 other people on purpose is rude!
For me it's totally fine if people are unexperienced or don't know how to handle their class, but they should at least have an open mind and a good attitude torwards others.

Just had an expert run this week with a WAR who didn't use any defensive CDs, so I asked him to do so. ('XYZ, could you please use your def CDs so the incoming damge is reduced and I can relax on healing a bit to support with DPS.' was the wording.)

I blacklisted 3 people so far since cross server.

One talks about what a great SMN he is and is ranked 95 on DPS for a11s (who the f":"#£ gives a toss?? Insecurity alert) But plays a tank and he is sh*t at mechanics. Makes a mistake and laughs about it. Someone else makes a mistake and blames complaints point fingers and leaves .

One was a healer and when someone makes one mistake he complaints and tells everyone how we all suck and we are all terrible and of course leaves the party.

And the last one a healer who is another deluded child who joins a farm party if we don't one shot for X reasons DISBANDS the party and blacklists everyone.

Can we please have an option to BAN deluded MORONS for a week to grow some balls get a grip and come down from cloud 9?
