Gating Grind: A disappointed veteran.

I just got back from Tokyo FFXIV cafe, and figured heck, why not give the go.
Started gear grind my main, running through quests, until I realized:
I'm flat broke.

So I go check my 50-60 DOH and DOLs, and found I'm screwed.
No scaling has been attempted to alleviate the scrip grind.
I can't get the current Heavensward recipes, they are all stuck behind mind numbing, time gates.
With Stormblood approaching, I was hoping to catch up.


If the intent is that crafting is for "hardcore" players only, you've succeed.
Not fun, and I just won't resub.
Content splurge->unsub->wait 12 months -> resub 2 months -> content splurge-> unsub.

I was much happier when FFXIV was casual fun with a great community.
I'd log in, do things I'd have time for, and log off like I'd made a difference / made progress.
Now, I guess since crafting isn't a thing, I'll just gear for story and log off.

I just dont understand how people that leave the game for months and months expect SE to be accommodating to them. What about all the other people that stay subbed that never unsubb and are lookinfor things to do and time syncs. If someone unsubs in my opinion they would do it again and thus never really be loyal to the company so why should the cater to make things easier.

I subbed for ? a year?
Have 1000 days of game time on my account.
Before taking the Dev's side, look online about how grindy FFXI became.
If they don't fix it now, imagine how hard it will be for a new player when Stormblood hits, or X expansions down the line.

I'm not asking for them to dumb down new content, simply make existing old content more accessible as time passes.
Though not having daily insane forced grinds would be nice too.

If you want the super fast way, bypassing grind, then just wait until the expansion instead of prepping beforehand. Gearing and progressing any DoH/DoL or DoW/DoM will be super fast, you'll just level right past the old Lv60 roadblock stuff and pick up some new Lv61+ leveling gear with no grind on them, free from quests or low cost on vendors or simple materials to make. But of course things will slow down again when you reach Lv70.

Yus, cap removed on red scrips, and yellow scrips will be uncap from the start.

There's loads of ways to catch up, though. From Ixal to Moogle tribes to Zhloe turn-ins. If your sole complaint is scrip gates, that's not the only gearing option.

Nope, there's no real shortcut here. You get to grind it out just like the rest of us had to. Don't expect special treatment because you haven't played for a while.
