I read these posts and say to myself we should be happy. Has anyone played games like STO or Marvel Omega. We are quite lucky that we arent being forced to pay for currency or keys to open up lock boxes for special items.

Mogstation is the reason stormblood budget is double that of HW. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it
Nothing wrong with being a business, but this is a SUBSCRIPTION BASED game! We already DO pay SE and a lot too, since the subscription fee is one of the higher ones to begin with. New items such as mounts, minions, emotes should be obtainable ingame via quest, FATE, dungeon,... you name it, since we already payed for them with our sub.

They have a smaller cash shop than we do despite being out much longer. I feel it's part of the conversation that's always left out.

Its not that much smaller and FF14 has never released new shop items when there has been no new game content released in over 8 months. WoW has.
I get people are frustrated that there are things on the Cash Shop they want and they cant get in game but the reality is that if we didn't have the cash shop we would end up getting less, not more. The cash shop increases the revenue FF14 receives and in turn justifies higher investment into the game. Unless you have a suggestion that will guarantee a sudden explosion in the FF14 sub numbers, a cash shop is a valid and effective way of them increasing revenue and in turn providing justification to reinvest, hire new staff and upgrade systems.
You want more in FF14? Then SE needs to find a way to finance extra projects.
WoW add things like once or twice a year though, and most of the seasonal stuff is in game when the event comes up again. Right now SE is updating the cash shop once a month it seems. That's not to say they shouldn't have a cash shop at all but it seems they are getting way more aggressive with it lately.
Technically you didn't, and they didn't have to add it at all. They need more money to give us better updates for the game, so they create little things that people would want to buy. If there was no Mogstation, more likely none of those items would even exist.

And there's the argument that always shows up in these threads.Nothing wrong with being a business, but this is a SUBSCRIPTION BASED game! We already DO pay SE and a lot too, since the subscription fee is one of the higher ones to begin with. So should everything in a theme park be free seeing as you had to pay to get in? How about at a local pool, should the food be free seeing as you typically have to pay to get in? Should games at a Golf course be free if you're a member of the country club? What about movie theaters? Eight to ten dollars per seat and I HAVE to pay for food items should I want any. What about when you go on a cruise? Sure somethings might be covered by what you paid for your passage, but why isn't everything free?
Just because you pay a sub does not mean there won't be additional charges for things that are completely optional.

Compare the items in the Mog Station to the items in the game... ?Nothing wrong with being a business, but this is a SUBSCRIPTION BASED game! Clearly there's more in the game than out of the game.
