I dunno, last year's halloween event in Haukke Manor was pretty awesome.

Mogstation isn't going anywhere, so why keep making these rant threads? You're in the minority, the majority don't mind tossing some cash for extra cosmetic perks.

Everything is a business. The sooner people realize gaming isn't excluded from that, the better. Whether or not you, I or anyone else agrees with the mog station is irrelevant. Money has and always will control everything.
Actually, the Mogstation's prevalence is entirely in our control and pretending we have to bend over and let SE list whatever they please for sale on their is self-defeating.
I mean really, we get cultural dances for the major cities through questlines and when the opportunity arises to introduce a far east dance from Doma - a region we will be visiting in Stormblood - does that too follow the pattern? No. Now it's straight to the cash shop.
Arguing about need in a video game is silly. You don't need anything in a game. What people value from a game, however, is subjective from person to person.
Or, you know, they don't have to add (or readd) anything from the cash shop into the game at all. Without the shop, the seasonal may never be obtainable again if they decided not to, and the items that didn't exist at all prior didn't have to exist in general. The cash shop aids the game, and gives them a place to create smaller things for money in which goes into adding more bigger things that go directly into the game.Actually, the Mogstation's prevalence is entirely in our control and pretending we have to bend over and let SE list whatever they please for sale on their is self-defeating.

I usually only lurk in threads like this but I would like to point out: The Far Eastern Dance was a promotional item given to the Chinese players of the game. It was an exlusive item that the Devs made for that audience per the unknown details of the contract they have with the provider that allows the game to be accessed in that country. It went to the cash shop because the Chinese and Korean players had to pay for it, so we have to pay for it as well.
That's not really an argument for charging for the dance. Why was it not introduced via quest from the get-go, hm?I usually only lurk in threads like this but I would like to point out: The Far Eastern Dance was a promotional item given to the Chinese players of the game. Plenty of people don't give a hoot what buffs their damage. There is far more to this game than just increasing your stats, and the phrase "glamour is the true endgame" should be enough evidence of that. Stop pretending that cosmetic content is not content.Everyone knows that emotes gives you a permanent damage buff, and minions will add to damage as well. Not to mention the Manderville, how many times that have improved your evasion rate to 100% ? I'm amazed it still is obtainable in game!!! I had "mandervilled" my Titan EX because tired of follow mechanics and avoid aoe.
Because, as stated in my pervious post, Square Enix is under contract to make exclusive items for the Chinese and Korean games in order for the companies that allow the game to played in those countries to make money. SE has to go through a company for FFXIV to played there, and the company goes "alright, so what are you going to give us that will make people want to play your game?" The regional exlusives are an a incentive for the company hosting FFXIV to actually host the game. The only thing we don't know are the exact terms of these contracts, nor do we know how the money for these regional items are split between SE and the company hosting the game.

Cosmetics is content too, but it also is vanity items.
Pretending all vanity items must be free for all, is completely defying the well known fact that vanity is an income source for any kind of games, subs and f2p. Defying, denying, ignoring the fact.
Some good stuff , you can get it in game, some other, you find them in cash shop. Your choice.
I saw in other games people trading in-game stuff for cs items, that is another option too, to get them without pay. Mog station have a "gift" option, after all.
