Question about Salted Earth

Greetings forum.

So, like it says in the title, I'm not quite sure what the skill does. I'm trying to learn how to tank, and I've been splitting up leveling my DRK between the daily roulettes and PotD, but this is just bothering me. Like, I've read the tooltip time and time again, but whenever I use it in actual battle, whether it be solo FATES, or the roulettes, I never see any damage from it.

I get that it's an AoE. But, does the whole "...a potency of 75 to any enemies who enter." mean that they have to be drawn into the AoE first for it to trigger, or can they be in the field as it goes off? Also since it has a duration, does that mean it's a DoT as well, or does it just do that damage once, then just sits then until the enemy is brought out and back in?

Any help would be appreciated.

Salted Earth is a ground dot aoe, this means every enemy how get inside of the afected área of salted Earth go to recive tics of 75 potency damage all the time the skill is up and they are inside.
You can test It in 2 ways, one with a dummy to see the tics of damage or use the skill and take a mod in to It so you can se the skill affect It when they touch it.

Works like doton from ninja, the purple aoe from archanist and the fire zone of bards, (sorry im sleepy and un the phone so i cant look the names right now ^^)

So is just use the skill and keep all the adds inside yo make It eat all the tics of damage.

It's a DoT, anything that stands in it takes damage every 3 seconds. The full potency if something stands in it for the full duration is 525 potency per mob, making it your strongest attack as DRK with a shorter CD than carve and spit and it's an oGCD with no cost.
