Hello all well this topic is for a FFXI question and Server Related ?

1st Question
Does FFXI has Server in America ?

2nd Question this is related to this topic a Reference from Yoshi on this Post which im going to Quote

"Also, in regards to retainers, for 2.0 the system will change and we intend to make it so it will not be the character that is given the retainer, but the user's account itself. (Purchased retainers will be usable with any character under the account. Item transfer is a separate problem though.)"

Wouldn't it be easier to put a server in America also to avoid a LOT of Latency/Lag issues that we have compare to Japan ?

these are the FFXIV forums, not the FFXI forums. But no, neither FFXI or FFXIV have servers in NA.

I KNOW these are the FFXIV Forums not the FFXI , but where i was going was for 2nd question because with the new engine coming and new patches there will be a lot of issues that might arise , which i think they could be lower by putting a server in NA.

Hello , im just posting here because im going to have to agree my PC its not "high end" and i still get some lag (and i have 10mb connection) anyway just giving my 2cents

While this might make sense for a game that has regional servers, this game has international servers. So while moving a server to the US might solve some lag issue for NA players, it would exacerbate the problem for players on that server from other regions. That being said, this wouldn't solve anything.

Nope, issues with the servers will be fixed by optimizing them -- Physical location has no bearing on the server's performance. FFXI is 100x more responsive and snappier than XIV's servers and interface due to being well optimized as well as having datacaps iirc.

For instance: popular web hosting services are generally European or Japanese based but you won't ever notice any issues until they have issues on their side. XIV's problems arises with using a server side interface and bad server infrastructure including settings -- Those issues get resolved it wouldn't matter if the servers were located in Antarctica, if the servers themselves are well optimize it won't be hindered.
