As a self-proclaimed Moogle wildlife activist, I approve this mes... er, thread.
My super fudge mint chocolate chippity whip cream dream (with a cherry pom pom on top) of having them appear as a playable race with the proportions of Akihiko Yoshida's FF12 models was crushed when I saw those cute little furballs kupo'ing about at my first glimpse of them in Grid's intro. I would have been one lean mean armored shield wielding moogle machine if that were the case.
But alas, it is not. I accept that now and have since proposed many ideas about how to go about getting our Moogle friends a shinier role in XIV. As much as I do adore them looking as they currently do, they just seem so useless (yes lore-wise too). Thus, if we can't have them as playable characters I've settled for a Moogle Companion suggestion which--I believe--could hope to "kupofy" many aspects of battle, crafting, gathering, scouting new areas, auto-functions, UI features, and just plain hanging around with them.
Suggestions have been proposed via my sig link below.Check it out and comment...

...and for kicks I'll go ahead and squeeze in my older suggestion thread I made a while back too, since it's related to super awesome playable Moogle race 2.0 lore implementation ideas.

Nothing against the designers...FFXIV Moogles look like squinty hamsters.
It's interesting to see them go from an intelligent humanized form from one Final Fantasy to a more animal in another.
Alas, I always wanted to play as a Moogle. Every time there's a pudgy character build in games I try to make it sorta look like a Moogle. You'd think SE would accommodate fans and make a playable Moogle race.
I always thought when they made the smallest class in FF11 and FF14 they were verging on a psuedo half human half Moogle type. I felt almost Mooglelike in FF11. I feel just a small child with a beard in FF14 LOL.
Moogles probably won't make it to a playable race only for the fact that the tactical size advantage with targeting and the like would create an unfair advantage during things like PvP.
I honestly prefer the classic look they have now but I really, really, really love your idea of the above model becoming a playable class. If they want to do that I'm all for it. That would be sick and I'd rather play as xii's model than xiv's.I personally think the Moogles in 14 have a very ugly model. It seems like they do not even fit into the gritty world. I would personally like to see moogles similar to Final Fantasy XII:
Plus with a style similar to this, they could become a playable race as they seem a lot more unique in each Moogles appearance - so it would lend itsself well to in player creation screen.
Even if they don't let it become a playable race do you think in version 2.0 Moogles should get an overhaul in appearance?
Like get rid of the POM, and they are rabbit people? you are a genius
