Weapon/Gear progression for fresh 60, and these silver chocobo feathers

I'm closing in on 60 very quickly, and I believe the initial 3.0 storyline is almost done, so questions about progressing post 60 is quickly building. While cleaning up some inventory, I came across 10 silver chocobo feathers that I got via vet rewards.

When I looked online for what they were used for. A lot of old ARR threads came up, saying they can be used for iLv120 gear. Disappointed, I went to the calamity salvager before discarding them and I noticed that they can now be used towards iLv230 weapons and gear at 5 feathers per purchase.

I main both WHM and SCH, and curious how these feathers should be spent. I think the obvious choice is to upgrade both weapons for WHM and SCH (I'd very quickly go from iLv145 to iLv230 in this slot). It just seems too easy that way, but I need to spend them on something. I also believe iLv 235 weapons can be obtained fairly easily in PoTD, which I want to do anyway so I can continue Edda's story. That would leave me with the option to upgrade my body AND legs, but the same ones can be bought via tomes.

I guess the main question is with what you know now, how would you spend these feathers in my situation?

That depends on one or two things...
    1) Do you have access to friends who can and would craft level60 gear for you? If that is the case: Look what they can make for you and fill in empty slotsusing your feathers!
    2) Intrested in PvP at all? You can get ilvl235 gear fairly cheap there - if you're intrested in that, I would go for leg and body first and then spend my marks on weapons etc.

For PotD - if you're intrested in doing that content, I would go for a Padjal-weapon straight away, not with all those cheaper options we're having! It resets your aether pool, so before you can go on, you need to go after silver chests again...

Considering how easy it is to gear up now, I would probably go for body and one weapon of your choice. That way you would have one healer whos already equipped with a decent weapon when you go and run some content to get tomes to gear up the rest.

I would say a 230 weapon is hands down probably the best use of silver feathers. Weapons are harder to come by than most other slots at 60, and unless you're willing to pay a high sum of gil to get a crafted weapon, a 230 is a great weapon to start with as a fresh 60 to help you meet ilvl requirements for higher end dungeons.

Well, my own crafters are also about to hit 60. My iLv145 gear is all self-crafted ^^

I've been playing for about 14 months, so I should say that I do things MUCH slower than a lot of other players, but I am also leveling 12 classes all at once (WHM/SCH/DoH/DoL). That said, I also do have crafting help in my FC and can use it since just because my DoH hit 60, doesn't mean I can immediately craft top gear. It will take time to increase their iLv as well to have a shot at those recipes.

I have yet to touch PvP, but I am interested in it. I did think about going for one weapon and body. I do chase glams and that healer body piece is SO pretty! I also chase AF too, and will be spending my first centurio seals on the iLv200 gear for WHM/SCH, even though I really won't be using them. Ultimately though, the goal is to be geared up for Stormblood.

If your main goal is to get geared up for Stormblood, my suggestion would be to go focus on one healer first - as in: get the body piece and one weapon. That should allow you to run the dungeons ahead of you properly. Gearing one class up first (even though a lot of the gear is shared) should help you to get into the content - and if you want, you might pick up the relic-questline for the other job! It has been nerfed a bit by now, so reaching a stage when the weapon can already be used as a temporary replacement shouldnt be to bad anymore! If you want to go for glamour, they might be worth a look anyways (personally I'd recommend the scholar-relic!)

Hitting level 60 with your craftes wont allow you to craft the top gear ofc - even though I would really advise you to ask someone to help you with gearing up your crafters. Doing that yourself now is really annoying because it basically requires you to craft and meld one or two sets of gear ONLY to craft the next set (so, you'll craft one set, do the 20 crafts required to craft yourself the better set and so on until you hit ironworks... really not worth it, just to have your own name on it, if you ask me...)
Once you got ironworks gear for your crafters you can ofc craft yourself ilvl255 gear, if you wish so.

I still like to be able to switch between both as I see fit since my comfort level can be higher/lower for either one on any given day. But I do see how it would be easier to focus on one, but I guess I've never really done things on the easy road. However, it is good to know that there are other options out there to gear up the other healer. But to make this choice?? This will scramble my brain lol

I'm aware of the crafting restrictions even at 60, and I should be able to get some help. But the arduous step by step process of gearing up your crafters that you mentioned? That's how I've always done things since level 1. I am used to it. I don't do it just to have my name on my own gear, I also do it for the crafting experience you don't get with experience points. I consider myself a very good free-handed Omni-crafter as a result of this. Only level and gear restrictions keep me from crafting what I want or need, and I am interested to see if this continues into endgame crafting!

Thanks so much for all the tips!

(Personally I'd really go for that relic - its been nerfed already and oooh, the glamour...!) Its to bad you're not on my server, I'd love to just craft you some 250 weapons for both of them xD

But dont worry, gearing up will be easy enough! Dungeon Drops, tomes, 24man raids, Alexander, PvP-gear - specially if your FC-mates are willing to help you should be catched up in no time!

For the crafting part: I can fully understand that, I prefer having my own name on my gear aswell! The reason I would make an exception here is that the materials all those sets that are going to be discarded need are kinda rare, expenssive or annyoing to get - so to me that feels like wasting a lot of time and money to use them only once before they get thrown out :/

I got my Zeta for my SCH a ways back, which I now use for glamour. I planned on doing the anima quest for my WHM to kind of balance things, but would have to advance it a bit to get it to iLv230ish. I am ok with that though. I am leaning towards this option, and getting the weapon and body for my SCH.

Please take no offense, but I wouldn't accept them. Trust me, the gesture is greatly appreciated, but it's not how I do things. I prefer the uphill road, with a carriage strapped to my waist. If I wanted, I have enough gil to just buy the iLv255 items off of the MB and call it a day, but this is not how I progress or learn. Slow and steady. Step by step. However, I do love running dungeons, and EX trials, but I don't really raid.

As for crafting, I understand completely about the hard to obtain mats. I do weigh how much it is worth going through on my own. For instance I still did all of my Supra/Lucis tools upgrades @50. But this was because I knew I could use my Lucis tools all the way to level 56 (even then, it took HQ+melds to beat them out), and I level slowly. So I was able to make great use out of them. If it is something that I will use only a couple of times before it is thrown out, I won't bother with it. Don't worry, I will be diligent and smart about my choices
