Apartment Layout Ideas!

I apologize if this is already a thread elsewhere. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I would like for people to post some pics of their apartments! I need some ideas for layouts, setups, etc for my alts. I don't want to keep using the same layout for all of them, but I admit I'm not the most creative person. So any help would be appreciated! <3


P.S. - I've pretty much resigned myself to never getting even a small house. I doubt even when they open the new housing in Stormblood I will be able to get one. Scalpers will gobble them up before you can blink. Why SE didn't limit it to one personal house per account/character I don't know. But it is what it is.

Nope, just clever use of layout and camera angles. Mine was the second group of screenshots on that thread I linked, though I have since redesigned it. If you are serious about getting a house (and have the cash) I would highly recommend checking at the top of each hour, as that seems to be when they reset. I know on Lamia by checking at those times it only took me a couple of weeks of looking to find a small for my personal house (the med we got for our FC took much longer though.)

I have the money for a small house, I think. Pretty sure I do. I really want a garden cause there's some items I can't craft cause they require items that are ONLY gotten from cross-breeding. Which is why I really with SE would come up with an indoor planter that can do that. But ah well. :P Also, how do I find a vacant plot? I'm honestly not sure what to look for. Does it show up on the maps for wards somehow? Do I talk to a NPC?

You can access either the residential district aethernet via the Aetherytes in the 3 capitol cities or talk to the npc in the actual housing districts that let you hop between wards. They will show you pages that list all of the plots by number and have the owners' names in either red or green. Red just means the house is closed while green means it is open for visitors. If there is no red or green name, but instead white numbers (the price of the plot) then the house is for sale and you just have to scurry over to it and click on the plaque by the gate to buy it before anyone else does. If inside the housing district already and looking at a map of it, any houses for sale will show up as an auction gavel instead of a little house icon (sold plots that have not yet been built on will be a gavel and a red checkmark though.) This should help you navigate toward the house you are trying to buy, but it is much more efficient when beginning the search to start at the aetheryte or npc list because you can tab quickly through the pages to see what is for sale, rather than taking the time to port from ward to ward.

Small houses generally run around 3 million, and that is just for the plot itself. You then have to pay 450,000 to one of the housing vendors for a build permit. Be sure to check the market board too, if you are lucky you can sometimes find permits for much cheaper. For example, the stone house permit I wanted was 450k from the vendor so I bought a composite permit someone put on the MB for 250k then, after I had built the house, I just used the remodel options to swap out the comp skin for a stone one that I bought for another 12k. (Ended up going back to the comp anyways because it looked nicer than I expected. xD)

Go to the aetheryte crystals in Ul'dah, Gridania and/or Limsa and choose Residential District Aethernet. You can then browse through the plot lists (make sure to check both ward & subdivision). If one is available it will be listed as the price next to the plot number (it'll be in white text). Once you see that, make note of the number and head into that ward, using the map to navigate to that plot. Go up to the placard for the plot and you can buy it from there if it's still available. If you see one open in a subdivision, please note that when you teleport in from the city aetheryte it will place you in the base ward and you'll have to go to one of the subdivision locations using the mini aetherytes within the ward.
