PotD Issue

Hi guys! Kacho here.

I've running into a humorous issue in my pursuit of the 51st floor and beyond of the Palace of the Dead. I'm using my main and a couple alts to explore around and face the challenges a certain someone is throwing at us all.

It allows me the opportunity to play healer, tank, melee, and ranged class/jobs and get a feel for what I like best at a higher level of play. However, I'm finding my alt's level and their non-PotD gear are getting really out of synch.

We are talking like level 30 characters in level 18 gear or worse. I laughed at myself because I should have seen it coming.

Anyways, could someone please provide some suggestions about where I should go to buy the different levels of equipment? I'm certain I'm not the only player who didn't see the forest for the trees and this information will be useful to all of us.

A good first place to grab some gear (specially when you dont want to spend gil on it!) is your Grand Company - they offer gearsets for various levels!

Other than that a pretty obvious place is, ofc, the marketboard or even crafting the gear yourself.
If you dont want pay such highprices, as some people like to ask, each area has vendors where you can buy NQ-gear. Rule of thumb here: Look at the level of the FATEs and/or leve-quests in that area, the vendors will provide gear around that level.

Check the marketboard to see which is the best item you can currently equip with that character and if you dont want to buy it there, you can use this site to look up where to go to get the NQ-vendor-version.

Although I've long since stopped updating the site, this page links to gear lists for all the classes that should be relevant leveling up to 60: http://ffxiv.gamercorner.net/ffxiv/classes/. As a sample, here's the page for Archer/Bard: http://ffxiv.gamercorner.net/ffxiv/gear-lists/archer. This only lists gear that can be crafted or purchased from NPCs, based on the level it can be first equipped.

Thank you for your help! I was thinking this was a PotD issue because the gear issue is something which would occur often with this particular duty.

But, based on your statement, I made an attempt to edit the title but could not figure out how to access it. Oh well. Just one of those days where the ol' brain cells aren't firing up.

Dont worry about being disrespectful when cutting quotes - its pretty common!
You can get around the character limit by editing your post afterwards, in case you didnt know btw

Leveling up by using FATEs or levequests will cause the same problem - aswell as running dungeons but not getting lucky with drops! But ofc its a problem that easly created by PotD aswell, you're right about that

After reading this I am pretty sure you're asking where to buy gear at level 30. But then the topic threw me off because it's not an potd issue? So I am going to answer both because maybe I just can't read today lol

If you're still leveling or planning on leveling via potd, you won't need any gear since the potd system doesn't apply it. All you need to do is, level your armor and weapon stats with repeating the lower level floors 1-49. Some people just run 1-20 over and over till they reach something around 30+. And while potd let you enter the higher floors with weapons/armor stat of 16+ it's not something I would recommend. Especially since floor 51 seem to attract alot of speed runners and you won't be able to "compete" on/with their level.

For outside of PotD, after you've reached level 30 check your servers market board if you have not leveled your own crafters. Depending on the server itself, you can find easily some HQ (28-30) pieces that won't cost much. If you still don't want to invest in that, check your grand company, you can get a couple of pieces there as well that are level 30 green equipment. Now if you are feeling very adventures and don't want to invest a couple of gil, run haukke manor and hope for drops (lvl 28 pinks). These would last till level 32 at least, and you could continue farming brayflox. That gear is enough till around 35/38 and you can move onto sunken temple of bs lol. etc.

Another method would be leveling in potd all the way to 45 and picking up the free job gear from your job quest. Same at level 50 and continue your quest/msq if that still applies to you.

Actually, I was asking what vendors I could go to for the different levels of equipment. However, you pointed out that I don't need it if I'm going to keep running PotD. I guess that's true to a point but I did plan on following the MSQs too.

Leves give also gears as reward. Just look if a leve have a gear at the right level and for the right class as a reward.
