    I don't know where the idea of it being cross server that is a problem, as Microsoft clearly allows for that. It's the double payment that is the issue. SE wants them to allow XIV to be played on Silver account, while Microsoft doesn't want that to happen after XI.

    They do have a bit of a caveat with cross platform. They require that Live players be able to play on servers with only other Live players, as an option. This is the 2nd reason it will not happen until they change that particular stance.
