Free Transfer?

I have a friend who wants to start playing, but I'm on Gilgamesh, which has character creation locked most of the time. We've tried making his character super early in the morning, but no luck.
Has anyone had any luck petitioning for a free transfer to a locked server? He's playing a character on another server for the moment, but doesn't want to get involved in it since he wants to play on my server, and I find it silly he'd have to pay to get onto my server. Kind of ruins the point of recruit-a-friend :/

If, and that's a big if, there were any free transfers, it would be away from the overpopulated servers, not toward. They are locked for a reason and a free transfer to them would completely defeat the purpose of locking them in the first place. If you both absolutely must play on an overpopulated server, pay the transfer fee. Personally I think it's silly to be able to transfer to locked servers at all, but it probably makes SE a pretty penny.

They allow it because many people join to play with friends. A veteran player isn't going to want to uproot their entire character and this game doesn't really promote alts unless you want to get around raid/specialist loopholes. Basically, locking large servers guarantees people whose friends may have been interested are less likely to buy the game.

This was the reason I was hoping that with a RAF code they'd allow a one time free transfer to your friend's server. My friend is also likely bringing with him a small group he plays with on GW2 who are bored of that game, but they'll run into the same issue he's having. I'd transfer off instead, but Ive been on this server for years, and I'm already established with housing and such, so moving isn't really an option for me.

Sounds like a contradiction, you want a one time request for your friend to get a free transfer to you server but your friend has more friends coming in which case they would most likely want to play on the same server also so that one time request then turns into how many times request?

It would be one time per RAF account. The point is, it's hard to recruit friends when they either have to cough up an extra $18 or they can't play with you.

There will never be a petition or well a granted petition that supports free transfer to an overpopulated server, hence we are having the restriction in place. I've made by now 5 alts on gilgamesh all in the non prime hrs and early mornings it's possible but if he don't like to put that effort in it, pay the $18 bucks and get over it. Or both of you go play on a not so crowded server lol.

Unfortunately, no. You'll either have to keep checking for those moments when Greg opens or one of you has to pay for a transfer. Your best bet is between 3-7am EST.

Yea free transfers to a locked server not going to happen, if they did do anything like that it be transfers to a less populated server.

Yea I was kind of figuring it wouldn't work, but I wasn't sure if anyone else had a different experience with it being through RAF. Oh well.
