An alternative to parsing?

So I’ve been thinking about this for a while…while for the most part, the don’t ask don’t tell rule is pretty effective, it is fair to say that the lack of an official parsing option kind of sucks for those who are not able to parse (PS4 and small screen laptop users). I remember in a few of my threads back, there were a few ideas that were thrown in that resonated with me. What if, instead of having support for in-game parsing (battle damage, things like that), SE supported a parser that gave you that kind of information AFTER you leave an instance? Obviously, they won’t officially support something that occurs during an instance, but a detailed log that you have the option of looking at and saving after an instance couldn’t be a bad thing, could it?

Of course, because of the whole potential for harassment, this after-instance parser would only look at you. I mean, we do have a duty recorder, so why not implement something like this?

From what I've seen, usually it's included with parsing during battle. Basically, ACT. I was thinking more like one of those scoreboards that you get after a match in Overwatch/Call of Duty. Of course, if it has been asked that frequently, I'd say it's worth revisiting now since they gave us duty recorder. Surely there's some way the devs would be willing to give us some official tool to help folks improve, should they desire it.

Only works for Byako and it's received a huge backslash because 'people can see how I spam cure and not stone' type of why it should be removed from the game.

But that's why everyone in the party must give their permission to get recorded.
If people don't want to feel like being tracked, you have the option to not get in pf that use that tool.

This is a matter of agreement between everyone, so as long as everyone is, that's not a problem of the tool itself which is a great idea.

He said "We didn't want to enforce an idea that you have to perform well in the game"
Sounds crazy, I know.

I haven't seen people getting harassed by ACT a lot, I've even never personally witnessed it.
You don't need a tool to harras, without ACT there will just be as much harassment as with it.

He should just say that the ones interested in a parser are actually using one and that it's not worth allocating ressource to implement one (Which would be kinda sad for PS4 users).

To me, it somewhat remind me of the "it's okay to unsub when you're bored". Sometimes, Yoshida's speeches sounds a lot like "please don't play the game".

I'm not saying everyone should have mad skill when playing, but that players should at least read their skills and have a basic understanding of their jobs.

And if they don't, to at least not be salty if someone try to help them by giving advice...

I still think it's due the fact that there are so many people against it and he doesn't want to risk loosing them, same way as he doesn't want to risk loosing 90% of the raiding community so they don't ban people using the meter.

That is, unfortunately, a really fair point about this. I'll admit, what we have currently is a best case scenario, but it still makes me wish for something native. Even something like an add-on that is only for your own records, one that is only shared if you choose the share it through a screenshot. While that doesn't give real-time updates, I think it would provide an option for PS4 users, should they want to use it.

They gave the reason and made it very clear it will never happen because of the Koike incident.

A female player and celebrity named Miyu Koike, who also happened to be the host for FFXIV’s official Nico Nico channel show, had an incident she attempted to recruit 7 other players to play with her (this was broadcasted live at that time).

Abyss of Darkness, a world 3rd Japanese group for Final Coil clear then sneaked into the party (6 of them), streaming themselves through an unofficial channel and then made fun of Koike through slanders, spinning the boss around, and made fun of her DPS performance. Worse, Koike was also sexually harassed when the party disbands.

This prompted the Japanese community to punish the group sending hundreds of naked Roegadyns (Hageruga Matsuri, see below). As a result, these trolls ended up changing their names, servers, deleted their Twitter accounts, issued a non sincere apology through their Nicovideo live broadcast (which further angered the community).

Finally the group ended up a temporary ban given by the lead community representive, Foxclon himself.

The incident did not end in a sweet note however, therefore the group is currently monitored.
