I enjoy raiding and will continue for the challenge, although I think being BIS for just a few months makes it a bit disheartening. Move away from this whole glamour is the real endgame and make it so if you want the best gear do the hardest content. If they want it for glamour then fine make a replica piece using MGP. The real piece should have set bonuses or add a system to customise stats on raider gear similar to Anima.
They should be the best pieces available all the way through an expansion and still be the best piece at the start of the next expansion/first new raid.

It's because raiding can be considered as serious business by most players and always brings endless drama to the players inside and outside the static group themself..
Here's a list of the dramas created by raiding:
- Someone is being singled out because of their performance.
- The treachery of whiteknighting those who are parts of the static despite they are core of the problems.
- Promoting "everyone can do what they want" is a blatant lie, because most will frutrate over losing in raiding, being casual raider is never an option.
- Being hardcore means being serious in everything, not my cup of tea.
- That someone in the static who's regurally absent/faulty/problematic but always have the first position in everything because that someone is a friend/lover with someone in the static
- Loot drops may cause jealousy and hate.
- A player having activity outside of the static group may be branded as a heretic (joining other group for raids or nin raid contents
- And many many more
And without static, raiding environment with strangers almost feels like meeting with a stranger who always claim "This works with my group, so if this doesn't work it's your fault" kind of thing.

I used to raid a lot in LotRO, then by the time I'd gotten to raids on XIV I had a different job with a lot less time. The current raiding meta does not allow for people with a small amount of time to play to even get a foot in the door, you either commit to a static and stick with it no matter what or you're a "dirty casual" who obviously can't play well and will only hinder the group. I'd love to get back into raiding, but I can't commit to a rigid schedule like that anymore.
The sum of all hunt arguments over early pullers: http://goo.gl/IFT9IE

I don't like statics or playing a game like a commitment.
The only reason to have gear from the raids is to be on the bleeding edge for the next tier of raids.
Most of the gear has a pretty specific look to it and I don't think it would be great for glamour. And glamour versions of coil gear were added so if there is something that I think looks good I can probably just wait and get it for significantly less effort.

My whole experience with raiding in mmo's stems from thats what my friends who I used to mainly play mmo's with loved to do almost religiously
But every single time, it turned into serious business and all fun was sucked from the mmo, eventually drama unfolds between the group of friends and the people my friend FC/Guild leader inevitably recruited to the FC/Guild to bolster numbers.
Repeat ad nauseam, it genuinely reached the point were I just couldn't play an mmo with them any more because they always resulted in me burning out from the pressure of having to crunch with a strict commitment to a raiding schedule and the drama, just... the drama says enough. (although they've quit mmo's now because raiding is all they literally want to do, that or pvp, the other parts of any mmo just does not interest them.)
Now with raiding if I do any at all, it is now more casual. As a result, I am enjoying XIV a lot more. Granted I have mostly played it for the story anyway, but still.
Compared to WoW were although the story is there the focus isn't as in your face / strong. You either raided or did pvp in WoW, or not do much of anything.

Playing since 2013
Never did any savage/T9 raid
Afraid of getting yelled
Kicked
Afraid of elitists who can make your life in FF miserable in a couple of lines.

I used to raid a lot in WoW however for a long time before I quit that (4 years ago roughly) and although it was enjoyable and not too drama filled it still took up a lot of time, it was enjoyable though and the company that I did it with were amazing. Unfortunately though I fell out of love with the game and I quit. However I don't raid in this game (the savage modes etc - I'm fine with everything else though when I have the drive and motivation to get it done) but almost all of what you listed I have seen come up as issues from friends in game who are in statics and raid, be it mid/hardcore.
I have at times thought I wanted to give it a go but seeing how toxic and the grief some people get, that isn't necessarily something I find appealing. So that is the reason why I will for now stay as a casual who socialises and enjoys playing at their own pace without any constraints or the will of others ruling with an iron fist. xD

The short answer, I'm not raiding because I'm only ilvl 240.
Long answer, is a bit more complex:
Some games I'll raid in, some I won't. It really depends on how the content is laid out. When I played WoW last, I raided Emerald Nightmare and Helheim. They offered unique challenges and I liked the methodology of learning the fights. Hell I did Sepherot for the first time a few days ago with a DF roulette and only like one person knew the fight. That was alot of fun going through and learning it. Even if some where making the same mistake over and over.
Problem with most raiding content in most games is lockouts. Getting into raiding usually means logging in on raid day, raiding, and then you log out for 6 days before raiding again. This is caused by a lack of raiding content. Adhering to a schedule can also sometimes be a bit daunting at times. Even in my situation where I literally have the free time outside Thursdays to raid any of the other six days.
But the cause of that is the lack of motivation, resolve, patience, and responsibility with the average player. Many would simply call them scrubs or unskilled. But that actually isn't true. Those attributes are required for coordination on a larger scale than a single group. It'd be nice to be able to go with a semi-random group and clear content whenever. But sometimes people struggle even with four man content. Again, its not skill, experience, or ability. But a lack of motivation, resolve, patience, and responsibility.
And that is why in most games players have to rely on guilds or in this case, statics. And slightly off topic, I never understood why people resolve to statics in FFXIV instead of FCs dedicated to it?
I will probably get into a bit of raiding or somesuch in the near future. As I'm not going to be content with the DF for much longer (its already routine). But for how long? That depends on how interesting the content is. So far I like the DF bosses, even if they can be a tad easy since everyone knows the stuff.
