I'd like to raid, but my work schedule + timezone kinda makes it difficult. If I make an alt on a JP server, I might be able to... probably.

Too time consuming, the small amount of bosses are padded to take as long as possible for people to clear, and after you clear it becomes routine.

Lots of people answering why they don't, so I'll add my 2-cents into why I do raid.

I never thought I was good enough to raid, but had a lot of friends that were into the scene and they pushed me into trying it out. Started my first static casually with some peeps in my FC as we no longer were finding the bulk of content too engaging or challening. Honestly, I find it super fun. Working together as a group to clear some challenging content is great. There's a ton of laughs, even when we're failing and wiping. I've met some great people in the community and within my static, and I genuinely enjoy hanging out with them - on raid nights, or other nights.

I also enough the sense of accomplishment that comes from getting the fight down and getting to share that with friends is even better. And the fights are (mostly) enjoyable. Sure there are times when it's not all sunshine and progression can be a bit of a grind, but overall the fun and good times out weight any of the short term frustration.

I do like being able to min/max my gear, and having an alternative way to gear up. I also enjoy helping other people learn and see the fights for themselves. I've hosted lots of teaching/learning parties for people to try it out for themselves and it's also enjoyable to watch them "get it" and then do better and better themselves!

I don't find it a huge time investment, though that really depends on the group (I've seen some crazy schedules) and raiding does make me a better player. It grows my skills not only in the game, but outside as well in regards to people management, time management and conflict resolution.

Also, glamour. That's the true end game, after all, right?

I raid because if I didn't, I probably wouldn't play XIV as much as I do. Plus, I made a lot of really good friends through raiding.

I don't raid because I don't care about the challenge or the gear, and because I don't want to hear people's voices or schedule my playtime.

    I'm a none-rider cause I don't like being seen ridin' dirty.

I generally don't raid because I didn't find team jump rope fun as a child and don't find the online equivalent all that fun either. When raids require all people in the group to be up to snuff, it generally means you only ever progress as fast as the slowest person in the group and that's frustrating. That's also part of why it's so very time consuming. On top of that come gear and food expenses.

So yeah... I'm currently still raiding, but I must admit I'm not missing it when our evenings get canceled. Solo games are more fun to challenge.

no reward or challenge or anything meaningful at all really...

in ARR I smashed coils got that shiny title and minion and even a few pieces of dreadwrym gear for my jobs...

all of that is worth absolutely nothing now. even the title is meaningless because you can effortlessly 3 man t13 for wanderous tails...

    moving into heavensward. even worse...
clear gordias savage get shiny 210 gear... not even good enough to enter midas savage with because as soon as 3.2 landed many raiders went straight for 220 crafted because crafted stuff was better than there Gordian stuff....
clear midas get shiny 240 gear not even good enough to enter the creator with as players were already upgrading to 250 crafted gear to because it was better than therte 240 midan...

and already at a point where players are rofl stomping a4s for the gobwalker mount..... so even that's worthless

it's been said a lot on these forums in these kinds of threads that more people would raid if the rewards were actually worthwhile or something that lasted...

it's funny how people will put in exponentially more effort into getting a random item they want for glamour than they will into taking part in a raid, and that's because glamour has more value than the actual rewards do....

its also why a load of players don't give a dam about best in slot. just whatever givesthem the biggest ilevel boost... no point even trying to get best in slot cos it's all going to be worthless in a single patch.....

I love challenges but they need to be lasting..... on my ps4 i'll often smash out games on there hardest difficulty for no reason other than a trophy at the end of it... the difference though is even years later the challenge players need to do to get that trophy is exactly the same as it was when I did it..

in xiv though. anyone can get the final witness title for example with no effort at all 3 man rofl stomp t13 and done.... makes the title worthless.....
