Raiders, why do you raid? None riders, why not?

I don't raid because it is intimidating and I have found I dislike having my time locked continually. I prefer my more freestyle schedule.

I don't raid for a few reasons.
- I'm not patient enough and get mad really fast
- Raids feel like bashing your face against a wall for hours until you break it....just to get to the next one to repeat the process all over again
- I don't like stuff where I have to rely on 7 other people to do everything pixel perfect just as they have to rely on me to do so aswell. Don't get me wrong I'm not scared of stuff like that but I prefer doing that alone
- I dislike coming home having to play a certain game/content because of shedule. I prefer to come home after work and pick a game I feel like playing or do something with my psn/xbl friends
- There is no real incentive for me to do them
- I'm mostly not skilled enough to perform the necessary button inputs to overcome them
- I have yet to find people that may make this fun, though after the Thordan Ex disaster I highly doubt I could ever be motivated to give raids/ex trials a chance again

Besides the story line, if any I see no real benefit. Weapons and gear are more of a glamor to me, and Relic based light farming would be the only reason if I go into one. Right now not that many reliable people.

I'd like to raid, but my work schedule + timezone kinda makes it difficult. If I make an alt on a JP server, I might be able to... probably.

Too time consuming, the small amount of bosses are padded to take as long as possible for people to clear, and after you clear it becomes routine.

Lots of people answering why they don't, so I'll add my 2-cents into why I do raid.

I never thought I was good enough to raid, but had a lot of friends that were into the scene and they pushed me into trying it out. Started my first static casually with some peeps in my FC as we no longer were finding the bulk of content too engaging or challening. Honestly, I find it super fun. Working together as a group to clear some challenging content is great. There's a ton of laughs, even when we're failing and wiping. I've met some great people in the community and within my static, and I genuinely enjoy hanging out with them - on raid nights, or other nights.

I also enough the sense of accomplishment that comes from getting the fight down and getting to share that with friends is even better. And the fights are (mostly) enjoyable. Sure there are times when it's not all sunshine and progression can be a bit of a grind, but overall the fun and good times out weight any of the short term frustration.

I do like being able to min/max my gear, and having an alternative way to gear up. I also enjoy helping other people learn and see the fights for themselves. I've hosted lots of teaching/learning parties for people to try it out for themselves and it's also enjoyable to watch them "get it" and then do better and better themselves!

I don't find it a huge time investment, though that really depends on the group (I've seen some crazy schedules) and raiding does make me a better player. It grows my skills not only in the game, but outside as well in regards to people management, time management and conflict resolution.

Also, glamour. That's the true end game, after all, right?

I raid because if I didn't, I probably wouldn't play XIV as much as I do. Plus, I made a lot of really good friends through raiding.
