I don't do Savage raiding because I don't want the stress, and I'm not even talking about drama. I seem to have this curse that makes people think I'd be a good leader, and after some time, I just break. I'm quite happy doing things my way, and being all chill. Yes, I could tell them no, but then I feel bad.

Also because my time is limited to Fri-Sun

I do the normal mode stuff, but usually it takes someone to push me to try the first time.

I enjoy the game as a whole but what i cant stand is the 12 year old minors attitude in this game. Talking about their DPS, how great they are etc etc etc who gives a toss about it? Nobody. These are the kind of attitudes that need eradicating from the game. Or for example the ones that join a farm party and someone made a mistake and they start insulting and leave the party straight away thinking they are gods.

I will never understand this child like attitudes. We need a report function like the RMT to complain about these people so they can come down from cloud 9.

Raid is great but very toxic from certain minority.

I once tried raiding with my old FC but the stress was way to high. Not only did you need to have time on certain days thus have to plan some of your real life around a game but it also often happened that people did not log in and you just waited for nothing. Also I started to dislike TS while fighting. It was really just fun with just chatting but as soon as raids and other fights started the drama started too. But they wanted TS for raids so I dropped out of it.

Now I just wait till it gets easier with the next expansion since I only care for the story, minions and mounts anyway. Its way more fun to do it unsynch with only a couple of friends and with no real drama if something goes wrong. And often its quite spontaneous too. I just dont feel like playing FF14 each day since I have lots of other games to play too which is also why I dont want to be in a static.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

For years I avoided raiding because I didn't want to play on a schedule, and had heard a lot of stories of drama from my raiding friends. The first raid I ever got involved in was T5, shortly before second coil was released (I remember we had some echo). Our FC hadn't cleared it yet, and the scholar left the raid for one reason or another and I was brought in as a last-minute replacement. It was actually pretty fun, and I was part of the first T5 clear in our FC. Momentum kept me in the raid group for second coil.

And that's when all of my fears about raiding came to fruition. When I did T5, everyone knew the fight already and they taught me, but doing actual progression in T6 was painful and resulted in a lot of anger on voice chat. I felt like I sucked (I still hate T6), even though no one said anything, and it was just a miserable time. On one of our raid nights, someone didn't show up, so the raid leader asked us to raid the next night. I didn't want to do that, but what I did want to do was play FFXIV, so I couldn't exactly say I wasn't available. After that, I left the raid and haven't looked back. I am extremely thankful for the Alexander Normal stuff, because I love the raid story (I finally finished coil unsynced later), but I have no desire whatsoever to play on a schedule and learn fights like a job.

I avoid the "end-game version" raids (Savage Alex & all of Coil) for a few reasons, the highest being the 100% flawless skill expected from any group I've herd in stories or chat (which if u ant causes my 2nd hated reason "Drama"). Also don't have the time or care-level to give a crap if I'm the best-of-the-best decked out in highest gear ASAP, as long as I can do what my job's "core" is I'm good... even if higher geared ppl make that horrifying & hard

My only hope was that the "Drama" of the raid comunity would stay there... which never seems to happen when u get some right snob who gives u crap just cause they beat the "Current" end-game highest raid & u arn't up to their standards in a random DF dungeon (makes it funny thou when said person dies to a easy avioded mechanic & yes I've had a few still blame us for that... not many but enouf)

I only do the 24 man raids and the Alexander Normal ones. I was never able to get into any of the Savage tiers nor the Extreme modes post-Thordan EX.
For example, I always wanted to try Seph EX since over a year but I was never able to even get into the fight due to all the "NO BONUS" parties in PF and I still can't even now. Same with AS and the others EX modes.
Because of this I grew scared of the hardcore playerbase in the game over time by risk of getting or kicked for doing simple mistakes ^^'
It's the main reason why I unsub from time to time hoping that things would calm down a little but it's the same every major patch

Reading so many negative things about raiding, I don't blame you but please don't think that EVERY raid/static is like that.
Raiding can be very healthy and fun IF you have a good leader and static members.

You don't have to be the best at your job but at least know how to play it well (As long as you can beat SSS dummy it is fine).
If 100% is the best then 70-75% is more than enough to beat the hardest content in this game without echo.

Would you believe me if I told you that some groups don't force healers to DPs? And have cleared A12S without echo?
People just want to talk about the bad and make the whole thing sound horrible when in reality there are some extremely casual groups out there.

Time consuming? If you do it everyday for 3+ hours, yes.
But in reality, you only need to do it two days a week for 3 hours maximum (With a mini break). This is the healthy approach.

Drama? Only when you have players that lied when getting recruited. Again a good leader can handle this. Everything should be done privately.
Don't yell or get angry at someone in front of all the other static members, that is just wrong and disrespectful.

[*] Also, you need to understand that everyone including the best player in your static will be making mistakes. So don't worry too much about it as long as you are learning from them

I think these were the common things none raiders complained about.

i do savage raids and primal ex to have fun with friends ingame. when i started to try raiding it helped improve my playstyle and skill and learn my main job more as it helped me notice and realise areas that i had to improve upon which i otherwise wouldn't be able to in non-ex/savage content. looking forward to omega savage ^^

My raid groups have cleared each Savage tier in Heavensward. Gordias, Midas, and Creator.

Having a raid group is the best thing ever in this game, so much that I do it on two characters ever since Midas. So I get twice the fun weekly. Progressing together along with other high-skill players, also playing their job(s) at a high-end level is very satisfying experience. You also get better as a player along with everyone else. I also love to try do things differently each week in progression/clears. You'll wipe a lot, but your limits get pushed, and with those pushes comes the rewards and victories.

You hear people struggle at being able to farm extreme primals, savage, or any content. That is never an issue when you have a group that wants to tackle the same content at the same pace as you do. Then being among the first groups to kill the last savage floor on your server, there isn't a better feeling. Having gear/minions/mounts that many others only dream of having in the game is kind of cool too.

more on this: i've had a12s farm pf's where healers did 150 to 200 dps each and while that's pretty low with echo (10% at the time, not the recent 15%), it meant our DRK in the PT was able to pull more numbers and stay off grit more often because of the amount of mitigation and heals he gets. while i've also had farm pf's of 12s where the healers dps'd like crazy pull 700 + 1k and we did fine too. in the end a clear is a clear and it fulfils the purpose of the farm PT
