Raiders, why do you raid? None riders, why not?

Raiding community is very small in this game. Knowing why some people are avoiding it and why others are going for it can help understand why less than 10% of the player base are raiders. (This % is based on Savage Creator clear rates).

So list your reasons below. Raider or not and why?

Raiding can be very healthy and fun IF you have a good leader and static members.

You don't have to be the best at your job but at least know how to play it well (As long as you can beat SSS dummy it is fine).
If 100% is the best then 70-75% is more than enough to beat the hardest content in this game without echo.

Would you believe me if I told you that some groups don't force healers to DPs? And have cleared A12S without echo?
People just want to talk about the bad and make the whole thing sound horrible when in reality there are some extremely casual groups out there.

Time consuming? If you do it everyday for 3+ hours, yes.
But in reality, you only need to do it two days a week for 3 hours maximum (With a mini break). This is the healthy approach.

Drama? Only when you have players that lied when getting recruited. Again a good leader can handle this. Everything should be done privately.
Don't yell or get angry at someone in front of all the other static members, that is just wrong and disrespectful.

[*] Also, you need to understand that everyone including the best player in your static will be making mistakes. So don't worry too much about it as long as you are learning from them

I think these were the common things none raiders complained about.

I was a hardcore raider in EverQuest and it was all I did. On nights we weren't raiding, we were camping content for gear that we would need to raid. We only did the quests that benefited us as raiders. We only did the tradeskills that benefited us as raiders. When I logged in each night, my time was already decided for me based on what the raid guild needed out of me. I got weary of that. I like to log in and have control of what I'm doing that night. I like being able to customize gear around how I like to play, such as the fact that I have pie/ss on my whm anima. This setup works for my playstyle but it's not optimal for raiding. Since I won't let someone dictate my gear choices any longer and I'm allergic to schedules, I don't tackle Savage. I do the 24 mans and EX trials because I can just pop into DF for those when I choose to. I'm curious about Savage and have done a little on casual basis, but I'm not curious enough to subscribe to the entry requirements to be serious about it.

Raiding community is small? not as small as pvp tbh.

Anyway, raiding gives a challenge, challenges are fun *here comes the propropropropro player "pls this game too ez"*

    Also for glamour!!

I raid sometimes lol. Somehow with the expansion, raiding became for me personally very boring. It's nothing like old coil and unless you have nothing else to do in the game, it's not even necessary to do anymore. Back in the day, coil was hell of a challenge and min/maxing gear was the fun as well as stressful part. BiS actually meant something and some items you would only get that way.
Having these kind of items were a requirement when it came to recruitment of FC's that did raid/primal sell/farm runs, as well as FC's that were going for server/world first. Nowadays and no offense, most of the content lasts 3 weeks, then we getting the first nerf or echo added/increased. You don't need the raid gear to actual clear regular content with, making it in my opinion irrelevant. And while I raid from time to time, it's in a much more casual group compared to old ARR times, we're not trying to compete anymore or bend backwards just to get gear out of it.

Used to raid. Then RL hit and made it impossible. Now it's too much of a time commitment to really get into progression raiding again. Officially retired and instead pass on my experience to newbies and help them get into raiding instead.

[Was a]Hardcore raider in WoW, casual as all get out in FFXIV - it takes a lot of time and I don't have as easily defined moments of play so making plans is difficult. Raid mechanics are also usually unfriendly to people who want to phase in and out, due to their looting mechanics (besides the general issue of learning who needs to improve on what, at specific learning schedules). Partly why I want to see more hardcore solo content lol, even though I understand why its near nil priority for an "MMO" to produce.

I like the rolling mountain thing they've got going on for content and hope they improve it (higher peaks, as well as smoother roll down - like making sure you design content that isn't a HM Titan Gaol).

I do think raiding is cool, just hard for me to have enough time to make a proper investment - I might suggest they add more glamour/lore fantastic items in raids (which of course will roll down the mountain in due time, but as content is current will be high in their peaks). This is something I felt WoW did a bit that, imo, was interesting- really cool sets and unique Legendary items of significant lore WITH interesting effects to match. Might further encourage people to want to learn, as really neat things are up in the clouds (I think SE is both trying and heading this direction though, so that's cool). I do want to add that not all cool stuff (like some sets/special ability items) were locked behind raids and don't believe it all should be, but that a lot of the stuff not locked behind hard content was more tools for progression to the end tier/goof/lore or at least was an end content tool if you were not a raider. Although you can add exception to relic quested items (doesn't need raid, still epic), even WoW has it's artifact weapon now.

I believe in making raiding easier to get into perhaps they could make a special DF with access to the harder contents sooner where you have to pass significantly challenging tasks that prove knowledge of many different mechanics and ability to handle them at once, in this way when the DF puts you together everyone has sort of already be bathed in fire - successfully. This would help people gain confidence as SE sort of pre-hardens them in a Hall/teaching environment, so you don't have people screaming you suck but rather the game going "not enough damage", "go do your DD Hall", "didn't dodge the eye attack, didnt stack with NPCs", etc. Doesn't mean you'll win but I do believe it would increase average quality to the point you might be getting random groups learning and improving together. Like I find in Darksouls where the challenging content and as people pass it you can see higher quality players arrive in specific areas.. as well as a general mindset of comradery because of it (unless you get invaded, comradery is a bow - after that its time to get rekt :P). Also to add is that I said special DF, or at least narrowed it to the harder content because of course I don't want people to have to pass the impossible to enjoy their story or easier content - its not meant to tell people to git gud or quit, but for the content that /requires/ you to git gud that it helps filter people who just aren't ready at all (and helps them get ready, or learn that its a type of content they wont enjoy lol).

Well honestly I don't get why do something that's incredibly hard now while I can do it easily later and quicker. I'm not for the challenge I'm here for the experience and wouldn't want raiding to ruin that. I'll be able to achieve what raiders did in 3.0 while being in 4.0, same benefits less stress and time consumed. Also >.< I don't trust others people much sooooo lol.

I like to get the most out of my subscription. Why would I NOT do content that's right there?

I say despite having pretty well skipped high-end gathering... Favors. Couldn't wrap my head around 'em long enough to care. Can't bring myself to care about fishing at all. Got 'em to 60, geared 'em and then... nothin'.

I don't raid because it is intimidating and I have found I dislike having my time locked continually. I prefer my more freestyle schedule.
