Long story I beat MSQ when it first released. I bought HS and quit. I just resubbed couple days ago. I forgot what dungeon I'm on in MSQ for Heavensward. I beat original story on Bard then switched to WHM. I have both to 50 and others scattered in the 10s,20s. I really loved WHM back then. I know I'm so far behind as HS just ended and Stormblood is coming out in june.

I tried to play WHM and idk if I want to anymore same with bard who both under geared. I'm looking in to a new DPS to level as RDM has me wanting to play it. I'm debating on Pug/Mnk or maybe rog/nin. Although I'm not good with positional least as of yet. I'm interested in doing pretty good dps but I'm not an elitist.

If you're interested in RDM I would give SMN or BLM a shot since they'll all be sharing gear once RDM comes out. I would PERSONALLY recommend SMN over BLM right now but they'll both get the job done.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried both of those classes. Why SMN over BLM??

I remember in old lore the RDM was a jack of all trades and a mix of warrior, white and black mage.

I recommend SMN over BLM for a few reasons.

First one is that at level 60, SMN is much more forgiving if you mess up your rotation than BLM. It also has much more mobility.

Second major reason is that SMN's have better utility than BLM, such as: battle ressing, enhanced virus, enhanced EFE. Meanwhile BLM has.........that one skill that I can't pronounce that only works on one party member, along with some really situational skills that are almost never used.

People seem to think that BLM has better DPS, but from what I've seen, that isn't really the case. They have much bigger burst than a SMN sure, but not overall DPS. (Players swear that they do but I havent seen concrete proof of it) SMN's DPS happens all over time from multiple sources rather than all at once. If you mess up with BLM, it's a MAJOR DPS loss.

Oh I forgot to mention if you don't want either of those classes and wanted to pick either MNK or NIN, try NIN if you aren't that confident with positionals. I'll just warn you that NIN gets pretty complex at 60. I would also still get a set of level 50 casting gear so that you'll be ready to go once RDM does come out

Smn over Blm comes with a goodie as well you will automaticly lvl Sch because they share their exp - so u ll get 2 jobs in the time of one ;3

After reading these posts and more research I decided to go with summoner. I like the idea of sharing the same gear as RDM. Thank you all for your help

I got Arcanist to 18 today. I was reading PoTD is the best place to level. Is this true? I want to level him fast so I can pick up where my WHM left off in HS.

I just got the PoTD quest is it like in DF or you have to form a party you know or is solo hard??

PofD isn't in the the DF. You have you talk to the NPC in the South Shroud in Quarry Mill to enter. No need to worry about forming a party as you can choose to join a matched party (like the DF) and queues usually last no more than 1 or 2mins. And yes it is the best place to level up fast. If you run floors 1-10 over and over again would should be able to get a lv up every 2-3 runs (depends on level) and they only last about 15-30mins depending on the party. You can also use it to get an i255 weapon which is nice once you reach 60.

Personally once you reach 30/30 on your aetherpool (PotD armor/weapon strength) and if you complete floor 50 I would start running floors 51-60 as the exp yield is better than 1-10 and the floors aren't as boring. It also let's you get your aetherpool up to 70/70 which will allow you to exchange 30/30 aetherpool for a i230 weapon. Retreat process and reach aetherpool 60/60 and exchange that plus the 230 weapon for the 255. I hope I explained it well enough while trying to keep it short lol.
