Question about Party Finder and MSQ quests

    Hello.

I am fairly new to the game, about a month and a half, and i have seen various posts about using the party finder when doing dungeons/trials for the MSQ that i haven't done before.

Just have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer. I have seen people say that if you want to clear a MSQ dungeon/trial to use party finder and say you are a first time here and that a bonus is applied. What is this bonus and why would it attract players? Also to do it unsynced, i guess this would mean most of the party would be level 60 players meaning the dungeon/trial would go fast? What about cutscenes? Should i leave cutscene heavy dungeons for my FC to help with?

    Appreciate any advice

A Bonus is applied by SE every time one or more party members need to clear the content. That bonus most of the times are extra tomes, second chance points and or gil. A lot of people still work on their relics, giving them an extra tome "boost" due to the bonus being applied is something that a lot of players are longing for. The second chance points are for the wondrous tail and can be helpful if people like to shuffle or redo a specific trial/dungeon that's marked as completed already. And then we have the people that are constantly poor and just want the extra 1-4k gil lol.

No matter what the reason might be, mostly the word bonus results in much more satisfying results aka PF's fill faster (when it comes to MSQ and NM primals, don't try that with X-primals or raid content), people let you watch cut scenes if you mentioned that in your description and most of the time having more patience.

Unsynced means every body goes as their level 60 and in maxed out gear (ilvl270 in most cases), and as you have stated these dungeons/trials will go super quick. However you won't learn anything from that since most mechanics are skipped, that can lead later on when attempting these fights via DF in absolute chaos, if not researched and I wouldn't recommend it. Same goes with the scenery, while people will let you watch the cutscene if mentioned prior, they are not going to run with you through the whole dungeon and exploring it. If there's a way to skip/cut ways/mechanics/hallways and path's that's whats going to happen.

I would suggest this, since you're a part of an FC, ask them to run the content with you. That is less frustrating and maybe you get some people even to "explore" the whole dungeon with you, as well as explaining specific boss mechanics. In most of these cases it will be sync'd, giving you at least somewhat the experience of that specific dungeon, without one or two shot'ing the mobs/bosses. In my personal experience, PF is the last option, I rather run stuff via Duty Finder/Raid Finder/solo unsync'd than dealing with party finders because there will be always that "one" special person, that couldn't read the description and need to ruin it for everybody.

Thank you for the detailed answer. That answered everything i needed to know, much appreciated.

I will take your advice and do the content with the FC i am in and use the PF as a last resort, but it's good to know how it works if i do decide to use it at some point.

    Thanks!

To get the best results from PF, just know in advance what you want and how to ask for it. You can also chat with people as the group fills to make sure everyone is on the same page. You are(often) running something for the first time, so you have your first clear bonus to hand out. But that doesnt automatically mean you want/need to run everything unsynced. If you want to run a dungeon at level(slower clear but you learn more from it and get exp from the kills), say so in the description. Want to watch cutscenes and have someone to explain the boss mechanics? Let em know. And you dont have to go with the first person to join your party. If you think you got one of those "special" people Luna mentioned, ask/force them to leave the party before you start so you can get someone else who can actually help more.

All of that said, running with friends you actually know will usually give the best result. So starting from your FC and/or any LSs you regularly work with is always a good idea.
