Wish we can only see emotes of friends from friend list only. Maybe this can help to not get emotes of other players spaming our chat box. Like that we still receive emotes of friends we playing with.

Come one guys it's clear that the OP should be the only one allowed to emote. We are superfluous.
1. Turn on all chat modes and emote in one chat-tab
2. Turn on all chat modes but without emote in another chat-tab
3. Switch between the two if emotes get spammed or not
4. Fixed
I can understand the OP. But you can just walk away and ignore it. People exp more harsh things ingame then just one spam.
But its also what I dislike about the internet. Always complain while the fix is right in front of you.
wow, really surprised over most people's reaction here.
OP is clearly talking about EXCESSIVE spam, not just a few emotes.
Why do *I* have to rework my chat or even turn off emotes completely, when I *only* want spammers to stop spamming when all it takes for the spammers to uncheck that emote text box?
If the BL was endless, I'd take the suggestion to BL everyone doing that up in a heartbeat. But as its limited, I'd rather save that method for more severe reasons.
As you mightve also read and realized by now, it IS reportable, so it IS considered rude to do so.
I'd also like to point out that I noticed, its quite common for many people to initially have 2-3 of their emotes show up, then turning off the emote text for anything to follow.
In fact, thats what all of my friends do(me too btw) and it goes without saying.
It's a thing called....uhh,you know.... COMMON COURTESY and COMMON SENSE.
You're making it sound like there's gonna be over 200 players near you, excessively spamming emotes, at any given time. The only place where that'll happen is during that one GATE in the Gold Saucer. Why do *I* have to rework my chat or even turn off emotes completely, when I *only* want spammers to stop spamming when all it takes for the spammers to uncheck that emote text box?

So you're complaining about someone not opening their emote list to uncheck a box, when it's just as easy to right-click a name and click add to blacklist. Unless you somehow managed to already get 200 of these 'severe cases' on the list, which I'd find surprising.
Like... how often does this even occur? I barely see emote chat spam anywhere I go. It's also easy enough to avoid it if it's bothering you (leave the area, turn of emote chat, etc...). I guess it also depends what you qualify as spam. Two friends using different emotes on each other, possibly many in a row, isn't necessarily spam so much as them having fun. Spam would be if they are using the same emote over and over and over again (and even then it could be fun to them and not to you). I agree that people should turn off the text messages for emotes if they plan to use a lot at once. But as long as the spam isn't cutting into chat I honestly don't care if people are spamming emotes. It's easy to ignore/tune-out. Much harder to ignore Holy and Ring of Thorns spammers.

Is it really that much of a problem if someone presses an emote a few times? I haven't seen anyone going too excessive with it:
Because you're the one complaining about it, if you want it to stop there's easy ways to deal with it rather than mindlessly complaining as already detailed in the thread.
