    uhm, not really. pre-50 healer and caster share their gear, wich means BLM have a decent Mind stat. healing requirements aren't that high either, a BLM can in fact heal an entire dungeon. and when the actual healer dies a BLM with physick can save the day in a bossfight.

    This is (1) a very temporary state, (2) a partial state, and (3) an inconsistent state.

    1) Pre-50 45(AF quest) doesn't last very long, and forming bad habits early leads to us having to explain to Lv60 BLMs on the Wall why they need to stop casting Physick or Sleep and focus on ALL THE SPLODIES.

    2) Casters still wear casting accessories, so from Lv28 on, even the allegedly "decent" healing potency is still less healing than the tank is getting hit for, and the best way to survive is by killing the boss with ALL THE SPLODIES. Anything before Lv28 has such trivial healing requirements that neither the healer nor tank will die unless one is trying deliberately to get killed.

    3) The first time through a dungeon in shared gear, a BLM's mind stat will be much different from later syncked runs wearing caster gear. A BLM50 syncked down to 31 will have lower healing potency than a THM28 in sharedmagic gear. Fire spells, on the other hand, will have only increased in potency, so again, ALL THE SPLODIES.


    Should a BLM learn Physick? Yes. Definitely. During solo quests, when there is nobody else to break your Sleeps, if you're overwhelmed, you can Swiftcast Sleep and spam Physick, recenter yourself, and then get ready to blast what remains of your targets into the Seven Hells.

    But in party, there are two major difficulty categories.

    In the first, the mobs hit weakly enough that even with no healing, you can survive by killing them with fire before they can kill you.

    In the second, the mobs hit hard enough that the incoming damage is greater than your outgoing healing. Each GCD you spend on a heal will buy the tank maybe 0.5s of extra survival time, but the target will live for at least another 2.0s. Rather than prolonging everyone's suffering, just kill the thing that's attacking you.


    tl;dr: BLM is about ALL THE SPLODIES!!
