    How to Complete Emergency Mission

So this guide is for everyone who gets into the new Diadem and sees an EM and goes WTF do I do. Guide is written however I'm currently creating the diagrams (if needed) and trying to get images to accompany the Fight. With this im hoping people are more aware of how the content should be done. Although I still think 50/50 win rate will be the norm. Edited with crude photoshop images. Further editing to images added pictures of of bosses and add. Not all picks are of exact add but the sprites for other adds are the same.

It’s safe to assume the newest feature of Diadem, The Emergency Mission is an exciting raid like random encounter that drops the coveted 280 Coven Weapons. The Issue with the new mission however comes for the fact that people don’t know how to run it effectively. Having done over 300 diadem runs and 50+ EM’s I have come to the realization that people need a proper guide. Hopefully people will read this and make the experience much more enjoyable.

For those lost Here is wear the Mission is:

Few things, as far as community goes the chance for an EM encounter is random. If it spawns then it spawns and you rush to the point on the map called the Missing Gem located on the image. You do not need to do your diadem mission to enter. Just head to the Teleporter and enter it.

For the sake of doing this if you do not have the following when you enter leave and don’t bother with the frustration.

3 Full Parties and 2 partial/full parties. Anyone in a party with less than 4 is a hazard.

If you do not have 4 full parties minimum the fight becomes ridiculously difficult. Just having 32 players in random party amounts isn’t enough because there are no alliance or party building options in diadem. That means the only ways of communication are /shout and /yell.

If you have this then we can proceed to the fight.

    The Gate Gaurdian

To put it simply this is a DPS check. This thing spams AOE’s until everyone is dead, it will alternate 2-3 small AOES then a big AOE. If you wipe to this don’t bother. If it takes longer than 3min to kill don’t bother. Leave and try again another day.

When the Gate Guardian dies 4 portals will spawn. Ice, Wind, Lightning and Arcane portal. As their name suggest the Ice, Wind and Lightning portal will teleport you to the crystal platform it is named after. The Arcane portal is fixed and will throw you at the North point of the Center Arena.

Here is where everything can and most likely will fall apart. The idea is to organize the “Raid” into 4 teams. One for each element and then the Center. Try to do this before entering the EM.

    Notes:
    - Keep Shout/Yell Chat open. You need to see which teams call which elements. If you do not have a fell party DO NOT call an Element 9/10 you will wipe. Instead play support party and go center.
    - If your team is taking an Element make sure the party knows. Separation happens often.
    - If a group has claimed an element you want let them take it and play support. If they wipe pick it up and do their job they failed at. 1st come 1st serve in Diadem.
    - If you are alone I would recommend switching to healer to or Tank. As a DPS the AOEs will kill you very often.
    - If you die do not wait for a RES. It wastes MP when you can just spawn up at beginning of instance and join the fight with no res sickness.

    The Actual Mission

Welcome to the Diadem Arena of salt and tears. Hear lies the hardship of FFXIV elite as they lose the coveted weapons they strive for in The Creator Savage for some lucky shit who was blessed by RNG. Provided you win. The facilitate your rubbing of glory into your elite friends face I recommend you read each boss guide so you know what to expect when fighting. The Listing is done in order from easiest to hardest, if you are new or you legitimately suck or don’t have a party please don’t try and tank or attack something beyond your ability to survive.

The layout is simple, a Circle platform with adds surrounded by a ring that has 3 platforms in the shape of a circle. Each element is on one of the platforms. Each platform has a crystal and a Legatos. Each crystal will spawn 2 Wandering Mach’s every 30sec that make a B-Line for the containment array in the center to try and destroy it. If you destroy all 3 crystals before the containment array is destroyed Buar spans in a weak state. If the array is destroyed beforehand, Buar spawns and proceeded to one shot you. If any Legato’s is up while Buar spawns they will begin to one shot you. Kill order then become Mach’s > Dogs > Legatos > Crystals > Buar.

The Center – Adds and support.
    Difficulty: 1/5

Purple Lines indicate pathing of spawning Mach's. The Red Circle barely Visible is the estimated ranged of Abyssal Howl. Numbers are Kill Order.

If you are new to this I suggest taking the center if you have veteran players and they take a boss follow them and their instructions. But for now lets assume everyone is a scrub. The Center is simple 2 Demon dogs and 3 Wandering Mach’s are beating the hell out of the containment crystal. If they break it you will lose. The idea is simple kill the Mach’s first while Tanks grab the dogs. Kill the dog’s as well while taking care of anymore Wandering Mach’s that come to the center. 6 Mach’s spawn every 30 seconds and head to the center, 2 per elemental platform. It is you job to kill them and the dogs. Mach’s > Dogs. They have a basic cone dmg that targets the containment field. When that is destroyed they will target you instead. If an elemental Crystal is destroyed 2 will stop spawning from that elemental platform.

The Dogs are the raid killer 20% of the time. They are the same ones from Void Ark and function he same way, they auto attack and do Abyssal Howl which puts a bleed on everyone in range. They are very strong hit hard and the bleed is a 3k dot tick. You can silence Abyssal Howl to make it easier and healers can dispel the bleed. Once they are dead the rest of the fight becomes trivial as you can now reinforce on of the legatos groups. I recommend going to ICE LEGATOS FIRST.

    Lightning Legatos
    Difficulty: 2/5

Pathing Again in purple. Faint Yellow is again the rough area effected by Boss AOEs. Remmber to spread out for Lightning Strikes and kill the add when it spawns. Spawn location is Random

In my opinion he is the easiest of the 3 and has the easier mechanics to deal with. Regardless the tank should be in tank stance and everyone should be spread out. Ignore the Mach’s let the center kill those. Your objective is the legatus then the crystal.

    - This boss does basic auto attacks and a mini-buster chomp that hurts. Tank should be kept above 75% Hp at all times.
    - The boss has a 360 AOE that can oneshot most healers and DPS. It does highlight so you will see it.
    - The boss also has a target AOE for members of the group including the MT. Just like in Thordan/Ex you must spread out or be killed if you stack. Its highlighted by a purple AOE marker above your head.

    - Finally the boss summons an Add that does a massive AOE with safe spots at beyon maximum attack range or in its hit box. This spawns anywhere within a 30yalm radius of the boss. 2 AOE hits will kill most players. As soon as this spawns kill it. It causes majority wipes on Lightning.

Lightning Legatos is simple and if you can avoid dying you shouldn’t need any help with your 8 man party. Soon as he is dead kill the crystal and move on to help another group. Likely your legatus will be the last to die as Center should be helping Ice and Wind first.

    Wind Legatus
    Difficulty: 3/5

Pathing and effected AOE again marked. Knock back covers whole area. Party can stand at either A point and Tank stand by the party so they don't have to move for AOEs much. MOVE FOR TWISTERS.

You probably see one skill on here and go fuck that I want Ice. If you go Ice however 9/10 you will die faster. Wind looks same as lightning except for colour and has the same auto attack and mini-buster as Lightning. Difference being his mechanics require more observation from the party.

    - Same Auto attack pattern as all bosses. Mini buster hurts keep tank above 75%
    - Has a stacking mechanic. Will randomly target one player on the aggro list with a stack indicator. Need minimum 5 people to survive however 7 is recommended.
    - Has a knockback mechanic x5. Comes right before the stack mechanic and is used to separate the party. Doesn’t do dmg. Recommend putting a marker on the ground against a wall for ranged.
    - Donut AOE. Has a large radius but a massive safe spot for melee range around the bosses hit box. To make the fight easiest tank the boss by A marker so range doesn’t have to move.
    - TWISTERS! Ya this guy starts casting twisters around 60% hp. If you ran T5 you know this move is a oneshot. Difference is it only onshots the player targeted and doesn’t have an AOE knockback. Avoiding it is just like T5 move until the cast goes off. It also doesn’t leave an invisible mine behind so you can move back. Target 4 random people on aggro list.

In all Twisters and Stack will wipe a Wind party. If you can manage these mechanics your well on your way to beating this fight. You don’t have to ignore the spawning Mach’s as there are no adds to worry about but focus targeting the boss helps to watch for twisters.

    Ice Legatos
    Difficulty 5/5

Pathing and AOE area is marked. Try to Stand on A as standing on the ramp can cause AOE to hit center Arena and cause a Wipe. Ice Adds spawn and have massive AOE radius. YOU WILL DIE if mroe than 2 are alive when they explode. Turn away from boss when it casts fear.

This pain in the ass is 90% the cause for a failed EM. And hilariously enough it is never the tank or healers fault but the DPS. This boss even looks different from the other two bosses should give you an idea that he’s a bitch. If you decide to do the Ice Legatos there is only 1 rule KILL ANY AN ALL ICE SPRITES and Ignore all Wandering Mach’s. Failure to do so is a guaranteed wipe. If you kill center head to Ice legatos immediately and make sure it dies.

    - Basic Auto attack rotation with mini buster.
    - Targets one random party member with a massive cone AOE. Try not to stand on the center platform the cone is big enough to reach the center and kill center group.
    - FREEZING/FEAR. This attack will cause a wipe. It is normally accompanied with Ice Adds. If you look at the boss while he is casting it will freeze you instantly for 10 sec but that doesn’t matter cause if you are frozen you are dead. Indicator is a giant purple eye on boss.

    - ICE SPIRTES. These little bitches are nukes. Plain an simple. The spawning of them is always preceded by the Legatos roaring. 5 will immediately spawn and start casting self destruct. When they go off they do a 16k AOE that u cannot out run. The die relatively fast but you have about 12 sec to kill all 5. Boss will also cast fear so make sure you aren’t looking at legatos while killing a sprite. You will freeze and likely die.

I cannot stress how important it is to kill Ice sprites. The boss will cause a massive wipe 9/10 if let loose so its down to the DPS to make sure the group survives. If you as a tank sees that the Ice sprites are going to go off try and call for help and hit any invulnerable skill you can to survive. I suggest a PLD tank as they have the best chance at living through the time it takes from a healer to res and return to the fight.

    Buer, The Fire Lion
    Difficulty 3/5

Tank Buer in front of any of the circles. The red dots on the circle indicate number of people needed to stack on it for it to start to activate, they only activate when Buer Spams AOE Pulse. Takes 3 sec to charge. AOE is roughly 1/6th of center arena and randomly targets a raid member. SPREAD OUT. KILL ADDS.

For being the big bad he’s not all that dangerous. He hits hard tho. As soon as the last crystal is destroyed the containment array explodes and this guy pops up, he just doesn’t have one shot buff. Make sure 1 tank is in the center before you destroy the crystal with a few healers as he opens with 2 quick autos and a minibuster that can kill the tank before a healer gets to center to heal. Keep Buer in the center and spread out around the arena. This is important for one of Buer’s mechanics.

    - Basic auto attack rotation. Mini buster hits harder than legatos.
    - Targets a random person on Aggro list and fires a cone of fire at them. Does moderate dmg to everyone in the target range.
    - Spawns 4 Fire Sprites that do increasing numbers of dmg to target. Each cast is a stronger fire spell. Off tanks grab them and kill them fast. Fire 4 will likely one shot anyone.
    - Periodically Buer will center himself and start casting continuous waves of AOE’s till everyone dies. Each wave get stronger. You need to Freeze Buar by activating the 8 Circles. surrounding Buar. Common misconception is u need 6 people per circle to activate however you only need as many people as there are lit inside the circle. Each main circle has 6 smaller ones inside of it. The circle will light up and require 1 person per lit up circle to activate. It starts a smaller timer and after 3 seconds activate allowing you to move on. When all 8 are activated Buar will freeze and then attack the MT again.
    - Buer will start summoning meteors after 50% randomly through the fight. Dodge them as they hurt and when paired with adds can be a pain.
    - Buer will cast a large meteor after 25% that has a radial indicator for distance base dmg. Run away from impact point so you don’t die.

If you beat Buer congratulations. Also prepare to cry when you get no weapon. Only 1 weapon will be given to a player in the RAID. But you get 3 265 gear 10 lockboxes and 4 spoils. Make sure to pick up the bag before you leave just like your diadem missions.
