Why are extra characters still $3?

I'm gonna have to liquidate the vast majority of my in-game inventory.... I'm not gonna pay $20+ per month for this game

Exactly.. I wanted to keep my materia for good gear down the track, plus some crafting mats etc..
The simple fact is if it was $1 per character I wouldn't think twice about keeping them.
Now I'll be burning all the stuff I wont be immediately using in the wards/npc
