    New to the game

My toon is only level 8 so I have a ways to go.
Really enjoy how the archer plays.
Being new would y'all recommend just leveling to 60 as archer before exploring other jobs?
Also what advice would you give in looking for joining social guilds?
    Thanks for any replies

archer becomes bard at level 30, and it requires you to level pugilist to level 15 at the least to unlock bard. to get the most out off your class though you will need to level monk, and dragoon to 34 to unlock all your cross class skills.
at level 52 the play style changes and you become less mobile as a short cast bar is added to your attacks. just something to keep in mind

Level 10 is when it becomes available (once you complete your level 10 class quest from the Archer guild, you can unlock other classes at their respective guilds). Level 30 is when it's needed. Any time in between there is good.

The pugilist guild is in Ul'dah, though, so it's easiest to wait at least until you unlock airship access to more easily travel between the three main cities. That will come from a level 15 Main Scenario Quest, "The Gridanian Envoy".

    Exactly this.
Apart from that you can, of course, go all the way to level 60 with your bard and enjoy the Story and whenever you feel like wanting a little break you can go and level another class.
If you are not interested in rushing to endgame, the best way to handle things is just do whatever you feel like. Want to craft? Go crafting! Want to gather? Go gathering! Just explore the game and the possibilities! There is so much to see.

FCs (free companies aka guilds) are really helpful in this game, because you might get experience buffs and nice people to help you. Maybe watch out for the party finder on your server if people are looking for new members, or use /shout to ask for FCs who are recruiting. ^^
You can also use /shout and ask to be invited in the novice network where you can ask the mentors on your server for help at any time.

Glad your enjoying the game. Make sure you do the novice hall and just a tip. Take advantage of the Novice hall and ls for assistance. Explore side quest and do Main story. You can level up really fast doing Challenge log, Hunt logs, to get to 30 fast while you wait for dungeons.

A couple quick pointers on quests:

The quests with the fiery ring around their quest icon are the Main Scenario Quests (MSQ). They're a continuous chain of quests that continue throughout the game and form its primary storyline. A great deal of the game's features are unlocked by them as well. So they're important ones.

Every five levels up to 30, there will be a quest from your class's guildmaster. These class quests are also important. A few of them unlock extra skills. (After 30, these class quests are replaced by job quests, which again come every five levels from 30-50, then every two levels from 50-60.) Once you unlock multiple classes, you'll want to keep up with the class quests (and later job quests) for each of them.

The other quests are sidequests. In a few cases, they might unlock extra content or features, and in those cases, the icon for the quest will have a little plus sign in the bottom left corner. Those ones with the plus sign can be important as well.

Sidequests with the plain oval icon without that plus sign may still be worth doing if they offer experience or rewards you'd find helpful, and they might offer a bit of background info on the region or a minor sideline story, but they're not as significant as the others. Some players like to do them as they come across them. Others like to hold off on them to do later when they go back to level other classes. Up to you.
