I WANT YOUR STUFFSMy personal feeling is half complete game, half the service fee.
I'm just not willing to pay a company to make a game, it would
be about the same as watching half a movie, and paying 75% of
the ticket price in the hopes that the rest of the movie will be made.
Right now, there is no guaranty from SE that the game will be reach
2.0. They have instead implied the exact opposite, that they can't
finish the game without us paying, and only if there are enough paying.
Right now even free to play the player numbers continue to dwindle.
Sorry but SE needs to learn that MMOs cost a lot of time and money to
produce. Cutting corners and rushing development results in an inferior
product that no one wants.
I don't see this product making it to 2.0 and have already wasted $50,
I'm not going to throw good money after bad, as they say. Good luck
to SE with their next project.
GDI WHY ALL QUITTERS NOT ON MY SERVER

You fail to note that the game will be free of monthly fees for over a year. Yoishida said 1.19 was the halfway point, not 1.20. Show me a MMO company that has had a free period that long without going to F2P model or taking any income and still be alive.
Quit your bitchin.
OH and another thing, they could had just not offer us anything and charge us full price. I'm quite tired of the selfish attitude some of the people is in this community, maybe the sub fees you filter some of you out.
If you really care about a lower price, just get the 6 month plan. You'll be playing that long at least if you really do like the game.

In reality the fee has nothing to do with 2.0.
They can either close the shop until 2.0
or make those who want to use the service pay for it up until 2.0.
There is no third option unless SE were a charity organization, which it is not. They don't have to keep the service running.
A couple of thoughts that I hope people can respect.
I think billing systems should be as simple as possible. This system isn't simple, and the character and retainer charges are both unwanted and unneeded.
Secondly, I'm happy that Square compromised, however it remains to be seen if there is $8 worth of content in FFXIV per month.
If this is a sarcastic reference to what will be the equivalent of WoW's cross-server dungeon finder, it still doesn't allow you to choose the people you play with on other servers. You're randomly queued up with others, and it's only to run instanced dungeons.
As it is now, that would mean you could only play with people on other servers during a Toto-Rak or Darkhold run. And only the Twelve know who would be plunked into your party, and what server they'd be from.

Here goes people with the 50% crap again. Yoshida said after 1.20 the game's systems will be almost to what they expect that the current engine can handle. (meaning over 50%) If you can't accept this then you simply don't have to resubscribe. I know a lot of people are going to enjoy less complaining on the forums.
For the great majority of people, the game wasn't worth it when it was free.
The point being, that's entirely subjective and everyone here already has different standards than the public. For many people, there will be $8 worth of content in this game. And for many others, there won't be.
It already sounds different from dungeon finder, much more all-encompassing for one because the server structure is made to handle such system from the get-go.If this is a sarcastic reference to what will be the equivalent of WoW's cross-server dungeon finder, it still doesn't allow you to choose the people you play with on other servers.
Now, that's not to say in the end it won't be just like dungeon finder. But the fact is that SE has a system in the pipes that will potentially allow you to play with your friends on other servers even on the same character. That's a better option than being lazy and just doing the half-assed option other MMO's do and force us to create new characters for it.

I agree with most you said...right now i don't really see it getting to 2.0 and, even if it does, i can't see it as more than "just another mediocre MMO".My personal feeling is half complete game, half the service fee.

beware using real logic on people@Lienn: It's an almost 25% discount. You're not entitled to anything. Take it or leave it.
You kidding? Most MMOs charge 15 bucks per account. Here you pay 13 bucks for a char that can play all classes, just like those other ones where you can have multiple chars, with one class per.
they tend to be offended by it
it is true, we already play at a discount from most MMOs
and add on the 3 extra dollars to it for the next year and its not that bad(in my case itl 5 per month less since im going with the 6 month plan)
so 2 a month normaly cheaper
5 with the discount
7 if you go with a 6 month plan
works for me

True, I'll give you that, Betel. It would be nice if SE had a grander vision of how to utilize this tool, expand and improve upon it.It already sounds different from dungeon finder, much more all-encompassing for one because the server structure is made to handle such system from the get-go.

If you truly had cross-server freedom, that would be something quite innovative, indeed.
I suppose I'm just getting a little jaded in my faith that they can implement something so complex when they didn't build an MMO that could handle mailboxes, player searches or linkshell management. :/
