When 2.0 comes out they are going to charge 12.99 when others mmo games are 14.99 with as many characters as you want. this is a problem. Please help me to understand why they need to charge 3$ per character? If you can sell me the reason I will be glad to hear it. (and also tell my why wow and rift can give you unlimited free characters while your at it.)

By the way when replying spare the white knight lines, im a big ff fan and will stay anyway no matter what, I just think this is not a smart move for future success in the game. (people on this forum have a for every aspect or against every aspect mindset on here so sadly I have to set that up lol)

Originaly everything about this game was designed to combat RMT but it had the devastating effect of almost killing the game before it even got started. I wont list all the RMT countermeasures they put in place as most of us already have experianced them at some point and still are as they are tied into the very core of the game down to its server infrastructure. Charging for a service account and per character seperatly is just another example of an RMT countermeasure as RMT use many characters to farm gold.

The problem is you cant beat RMT and Tanaka almost destroyed this game trying.

Its still fairly cheap I think, im happy to pay for this game and I cant wait untill they start billing.

This may or may not be true, as the page doesn't explicitly state whether there will be purchasable retainers available once sub goes live. The statement is ambiguous enough that it can be read both ways, and without any explicit mention of purchasable retainers at all atm, I'm leaning towards the side that there in fact may very well be no purchasable retainer until 2.0 at the earliest.

It's this {they can do no wrong} mentality that allows governments to become corrupt, and companies to keep screwing over their customers with terrible products.

People payed for a product, the product was incomplete and people are voicing it. You on the other hand are defending their actions and telling everyone that doesn't agree with you that their opinions don't matter.

Correction...people had a choice to pay for a product...said people could have waited for reviews etc. MMOs are ever evolving...said peoples who complained also played a year for free...said peoples want a free game because they haven't been paying...simple.

Also, most people who play multiple characters would pay for multiple accounts since they then can play them simultaneously.

They can do no wrong mentality? Seriously? I enjoyed FFXIV since launch. I'm sorry you didn't...I continue to enjoy the game. It's not everyone's cup of tea. If everyone liked the same thing there wouldn't be choices and options. Everything would be stagnant with no room for creativity and thought. SE made a game it wasn't everyone's cup of tea in fact it didn't get many players...so they decided to remake the game and hopefully make it to appeal more people. It's an experiment in creative licensing which ultimately is SE's loss or gain. Their decision on their direction and our decision to be part of it or not.

As far as governments are concerned...they become corrupt because people are corrupt. And people would rather vote for the popular than unpopular. And mostly it's the people who are their own worst enemy...

It's funny whether or not they put in a price reduction...and I said it before in previous posts...it doesn't matter...those that will complain will complain. They reduced the price...and if you pay for 180 days it's pretty deep discount. And yet people still complain. The fact is those complainers just want a free game. It's that simple. Least they could do is admit it.

And if you've seen the decrease in players it's just cause we've beaten Ifrit a couple hundred times and pretty worn out and the loot rate is horrible...and it's such a waste to get 2 of the same weapon so instead of getting infuriated most took a break. There are also many other games out. It's healthy to take some time off any game.

Sorry but anyone defending this 3$ a char is a biggest fanboys I've ever seen. There is no excuse to charge for it. There are other games which allow even more freedom to build your character and you can have more chars for the sub price. Some of you should start sending SE money just to feel good. SE should add donations to the game.

Not an excuse if any I see. That's SE's price model. This was their price model with FF11 as well. The current price model has been in place since FFXIV the game started. Now they've even added a discount. Your choice to pay or not to pay.

And again I say...if the other games are so amazing as you say...please please leave and go play those. Instead of complaining on these forums for a game you hate so much that apparently costs so much.

Thank you for this flame bait of an inaccurate remark - it gave me a good chuckle.

So I guess folks like you feel like they should just charge $6.99? LOL For my two characters, with retainers being free right now, I am only going to be charged $12.99. That is in line with some mmorpgs monthly fee subscriptions. I was willing to pay the $15.99 but this feels a little better until 2.0. If you guys want a free to play mmo there are options around.
