Android Software Token Resets Itself Constantly

THE TECHNICAL ISSUE - I always use 2 factor authentication whenever available, so I've had the SE Software Token as long as it's been available. Since late last year, though, I've had issues with the software token resetting itself - it forgets that it was attached to my account and behaves as if I'm just setting it up for the first time. This forces me to do the emergency token removal procedure.

This year alone I've repeated this process 3 times, and last year twice (starting in November when the app first spontaneously reset). There are many 1 star reviews of the software token in the Android store that complain about the same issue - most of them say the problem happens after a Software Update, but I have not found this to be the case, personally.

THE RANT - In many years of playing MMOs, only the SE software token has reset itself spontaneously on me; for this to have happened multiple times boggles my mind. You're not reinventing the wheel here, the problem of creating a stable software token has been solved.

I also play WoW, SWTOR, and some f2p NCSoft titles. Not one single time have any of those other tokens reset themselves spontaneously.

If this is a problem that SE still cannot figure out, why not just switch to using the Google Authenticator? I've used that for many years and never had a problem. In fact, my work even uses the Google Authenticator for 2FA because of how stable it is.

Since posting yesterday, my software token has reset itself again.

For the record, I'm on a Google Nexus 6P running Android version 7.1.1, the Square Enix Software Token is version 1.4.0
