Expand/Contract Maps!

Can we get an option to expand/contract maps? For example, we have our maps open to a certain smaller size, but then we click a hotkey button and it'll expand it to a much larger size (possibly fit the entire screen) without having to drag the corner of the map. I can see this being very useful in frontlines, where it's optimal to have your map open at all times (scaled down but seeing the entire arena). But sometimes you need a quick way to see a certain area without tinkering with the map too much.Also with the heavensward (and possibly SB) zones being much larger, it would be useful for people that like to keep their maps open at all times (but scaled down) to see all the fates that are in that zone. My map is scaled down and I have to drag the inside of the map a few times to see all the fates that are currently active in the entire HW zone. It would be much easier if I could just press a button and the entire zone is visible without tinkering with the map.

I've always been of the impression that this is the reason we have a map separate from the minimap. It sounds like what you want would be better served with adjustments to the minimap (in terms of loosening the scale restrictions, probably, and which markers it can display) so that the operation of your main map as a main map does not interfere with your usage of it as a minimap.

I misread what you wrote. I think it'll be much more easier to implement expand/contract maps (basically 2 sizes for the map UI) than it is to add a whole bunch of stuff to the compass UI. Also, the size difference between the compass and my map scaled down is a huge difference. Sure you can resize the compass, but then you would have a huge compass taking up your screen all the time, whereas for maps, you could just press M or ESC to close it and keep it from clogging your screen when you don't need it.

I don't know if you use a mouse but the scroll key is essential for me to do just what you're after. It lets me zoom in quickly on the map, especially in Frontlines or during quests with a target location. I agree with the request though, the maps in the game are lacking all-round. I rarely close my "main map" as the "compass map" doesn't zoom out to the extent I require at times.

Scrolling isn't a big hassle but while you're zoomed in, you would lose picture of the entire map (in FL). What if a small ice pops near you while you're zooming in somewhere else? If they allow you to expand the maps, you would be able to see the whole map and certain areas more clearly without zooming in.
