Or as my wife and I like to ask, why in the heck does it rain so much in Camp Drybone?

I love the weather effects in FFXIV. Seeing things like wind and rain affect my character makes the world of Eorzea that much more real to me. It is something I really appreciate as a player.

That's why it feels off when I go to places supposedly dry and arid and it's raining most of the time. It feels dissonant. Developers, is there some way to modify the regional weather so it is more appropriate for the area?

I was serious. Basically, I was wondering if places like Camp Drybone could have the likelihood of rain decreased. Since we have Skywatchers, I guessed that weather is programmed separately for each region.

The reason that Drybone is named as such is pre-Calamity, it was extremely barren and did get no rain. However, the calamity, specifically the obscenely massive amounts of aether involved in it, distorted the weather patterns of regions globally, hence why it rains a lot in Drybone and snows in Coerthas. That is the official reasoning, given in the story of the game as well. The weather is not "inappropriate," even if it seems counter-intuitive.

It was also retconned in, though, since Drybone was still dry when ARR started. The frequent rains were added quite a bit later. (Coerthas, on the other hand, has been snow covered all along, though blizzard conditions there are relatively new.)

the statistic says it only rains 13,4% of the time in Raindania, or 15% because that sounds better^^
so yeah, it's rainier in Camp Drybone than in Raindania ^_____________^

(honestly it's a bit of a surprise to hear that, seems like it's always raining whenever I log on. Must just be hitting that 13,4% window every time. xD)

The calamity cause some areas to experience weird weather patterns, im making this up but it could be true.
