I find it very interesting that Omega has a a face of a woman(?) on it's back. It give avery Fal'cie/ Jenova mask vibe to it.

On one hand it could just be a decorative design, but maybe it's what powers Omega? Afterall, Ultima Weapon was powered by Heart of Sabik

Unless I misremember (and this is possible - it's been over a decade since I played VIII), Cid did not build Balamb Garden - he discovered it, and repaired it (still engineer-y, to be sure). It, like many things in FFVIII was a relic of an older civilization, like the Undersea ruins. His primary role, though, is NOT engineer, but politician - there's no indication that he personally maintains the Garden, or that he does any other tinkering on a regular basis. Many Cids who do not have engineer as their primary role are still related to engineering, or even just airships, in some way. I still feel that the point stands.

Cid is almost always related to Airships, that is the connection. They don't have to be engineer, but that is how it often works out.

FF1 - Cid of the Lufaine created the airship the WoL party uses
FF2 - Cid owns an airship, and offers it as a taxi service for Firion and co.
FF3 - Cid Haze is a creator of airships on the floating continent.
FF4 - Cid Pollendina designs the airships used by Baron's elite Red Wings corps.
FF5 - Cid Previa and his grandson, Mid Previa, used the Fire Crystal to build the Fire-Powered Ship for Queen Karnak.
FF6 - Cid Del Norte Marquez is the outlier, but he is still the creator of Magitek, including the magitek armor.
FF7 - Cid Highwind is a pilot, and constructed several vehicles including the Tiny Bronco and the Highwind.
FF8 - Cid Kramer is owner and founder of Balamb Garden, which is discovered to be an airship
FF9 - Cid Fabool IX is regent of Lindblum, which is a city of engineers and airship pilots, he created the Hilda Garde series of airships
FF10 - Cid unearths the Farenheit airship, and repairs and pilots it from then on
FF11 - Cid is the most prominent engineer and inventor on the world of Vana'diel
FF12 - Cid is the creator of most of Archadia's airships, including Sky Fortress Bahamut
FF13 - Cid Raines commands the airship Lindblum
FF14 - Cid Garlond is a garlean engineer and creator/pilot of the Enterprise
FF15 - Cid Sophiar is the head mechanic at Hammerhead, where the Regalia can be upgraded
