That's like the most stupid sh*t I ever heard of. Not running old content for glamour? For what then? Except glamour old content are useless because they have no clue about how to make durable content. Yoshida is dasppointing me more everyday.

Yoshida: Not really. If we were to do something like that in order to accommodate for older gear, people might go back to older content. Content that they had played over and over again, just so that they could obtain gear was the dropped in those areas. We want to avoid having people going back to older content.

Ahaha, yeah there was another thread where we discus that because it felt like it wasn't understood, translated, or said properly because it's really a "Waaaaat?" moment.

My personal guess is that he meant to say at this moment with all the new content and drive to get everyone to play the /expansion/ content that he doesn't want to encourage people to play old content - yet. It's not that he never sees value in it but at this moment they want people to enjoy the expansion specifically, because of course that'd also mean more money to SE :P. This then means that a log would not be raised in priority at all until the expansion has had time to settle a little.

People may suggest the log is an expansion exclusive feature, and that may work, but I'm unsure how people would react to that. It might feel like if they had said "we're going to rebalance Paladin now, but only for the owners of the expansion any one else will be using the old Paladin which will be less desirable after our changes, please look forward to it!". So I imagine the glamour log would have to be a non-expansion specific content, which means it won't specifically promote the expansion and will promote doing old content more than new, because new content would already have a reason to do (story/progression, old content lost reasons but you just gave it new ones).

Anyway, that's my attempt to make sense of the non-sense xD.

That way they'll see how many different subscribers are desperate for them to make this glamour log happen. It would be such a big boost to inventory organisation.

This may sound very cynical, but i have a suspicion this is not high on their priority list, despite most competitors offering similar deals, because unlike games like WoW and Gw2 the only way we have to increase our bagslots given by the game is to rent it for real money.

The two aforementioned games have craftable bags and such therefore not creating an incentive to limit the players bag space. FFxiv on the other hand has no such feature. If a player run out of the already quite large bagspace, they have to either buy more or suck it up.

Mogstation purchased gear only takes away even more slots as it cant be put in armoire/be repurchased. (to my knowledge at least, i have not bought anything)
In stormblood they say they will increase bagslots. This will solve the issue temporarily. No matter what the game is, players will always find a way to run out.

The question isnt for glamour items, but making gear from older content relevent for progression. if they did that, people would just go back and farm easy shit they kbow how to do to get gear as good as current raid gear. That was the meaning behind that question and answer.

Oh yeah definitely but I think a key in a few people's response, at least mine is that he says "We want to avoid having people going back to older content." and that we have relics.

Which to me meant he wasn't looking to promote old content as a whole, making it relate to glamour as well. (and that the key is he is talking in context of the expansion, because clearly they've promoted old content before)

Let's be realistic here. So long as people continue to pay for extra retainers, they will never make a glamour log. There's no incentive for them, as a company.
