Stop Making Should-Be Achievement Gear.."Optional Gear"

But since I am on a roll I should keep going:

It is not right that items such as Odin's Mount...The White and Red Magitek and MANY other items such as the Almeric gear released this week and so on...should be payed for. It should be part of in-game content..this game is not Free to Play...so you cannot say "We need to make money somehow". You claim to have over 6mil players..and they pay approx 13 dollars a month...thats 78mil a month...936 Mil a year...Don't tell me about "Expenses"

Odin's mount shouldve been a 50 token of the FATE or even the Trial fight reward

The Red Magitek shouldve been for many Prae runs...and the White for many Castrum Runs achievement...

Almeric's gear couldve been a reward for X amount of Heavensward dungeons ran achievement...

The Gear of Scions couldve been other achievements as well that gave people content to do..

Each of the Weapons couldve been for Heavensward Dungeon ran as that Job for example.

Same goes for emotes..i remember before when a patch came...we got new emotes from a quest we can do..now we need to pay for it ontop of our subscription?

We are PAYING you for content and paying for a FULL membership..not a Partial Membership and you make something and put it as separate? The only thing allowed to be sold should be Seasonal Gear...since if you missed it...that is your problem...but the rest? Dyes shouldnt be bought..they should be something part of ingame economy...And all these items should be part of the game...We could farm Odin's armor and wep but not his steed? and worse..you charge for a nearly 1-2 month subs for this digital item...

I understand you run a business SE, And you have employees and you need to make money..plus investors...but if your focus is money only, and the players start to pick up on that and feel you dont' care as much about customer satisfaction..you will lose alot of support on the day you do something wrong and people won't be loyal if they think you are not the same SE that "Reborn"d this game...They will permanently break up with you...You almost collapsed because of 1.0...but you worked hard..put ALOT of content and players felt your passion and supported you...but the direction you are taking now with all these "Optional Items" is the wrong one. Ontop of that..compared to 2.0 patches..we are getting less dungeons..trials...battle content..the MEAT of the game...What will you do next? charge us the sub but then we need to pay to get access to a "Optional" raid? A sub is a sub..we should have access to everything if this game isnt a Free-To-Play game.

Here is my proposed solution...These items you plan on putting up on sale on Mogstation...make a 1 week event related to that item before you put it on sale...if people are there at the time and complete the quest...they get the item...if they were not subbed/busy/whatever...then you can put it on sale on the Mogstation...Similar to how people missed Seasonal Items...But at least use this as content for the game rather than "pay for content..even though you are paying a subscription"...I still think alot of the items SHOULD be achievements (such as the Magitek Mounts) or part of Bosses (Odin Mount) rather than something "Extra" to the game...You put Odin's mount as an Extra as well as Scion's Gear and Almeric's when those are part of the game's story but then add something like a chicken platter helmet in Gold Saucer which has nothing to do with the FF series or any boss/situation in the game...this makes no sense.

The sub only model is basically dead. The sub + microtransactions model is probably not going away anytime soon unless players use capitalistic forces to eliminate it (ie boycott such products on a large scale while supporting games that use a sub only model).

But where does it stop? Shall they stop making all sorts of weapon models all together? and just upgrade the same piece of item forever? And if you want anything else...pay for it? We are paying a sub already..part of that sub is the expectation that we will get digital items..systems such as the Veteran items is fine, since it rewards people who play...The Sub also covers items that users can use in the game....The game should be fun, challenging and since it is an MMO...should have alot more content for people to go do...Things to strive for...otherwise what is the point of playing at all? Then have them remove all mounts from EX fights...All emotes from the game..I can afford to buy these items...But my point is why pay a sub and bother having achievements if all the good stuff is bought? why do anything in the game? Raiding is OPTIONAL isnt it? so is LEVELING...so is gearing up...you don't make a strong point at all.

No problem with that, gear serves a purpose it's not an end itself so who cares about cosmetics, there are 'fluff' glamours if you really feel the need to try to look 'special'.

It stops when, instead of relying on a small number of people with the bad financial sense to buy all their crap (e.g., me), they raise subscription prices across the board.

I am not totally anti cash shop like some others around here are, I think its fine for old event stuff and dyes for newer players to purchase, but that's a very weak argument that does not address the OP's concerns..
It would be fine to say this if those items were available in game now via achievements as well, so you had the choice of grind or buy, or if they do it like most other MMO's do and make them not bound so they could be put up on the MB and people could buy them with gil, but to put exclusive, and to some, desirable gear as cash shop only is bound to cause grievance in a subscription based game.

if you want the item, but don't have the extra money to pay for it.

could do what eso does, you buy a $15 sub. you get 1,500 crysta. It is getting to much where TOO much cosmetic is going into cash shop only.

the sub fee goes into making those items as well.

This has always been a poor counterargument and I say this as someone who has purchased multiple items from the Mog Station as well as from Square Enix's official store. The rate at which new items are added to the Mog Station has increased over time and there's a lot of stagnating content in-game that could easily be refreshed by adding some new items as rare rewards. Take the revamped Diadem, for instance - there's no exclusive rewards in the form of mounts, minions or glamour for those of us who already acquired the pegasus mount and minion the first time around.

...and in a game where most of the content revolves around acquiring interesting looking glamour, minions, emotes and mounts it feels very dishonest to play down the appeal and importance of cosmetic rewards.
