Player Commendation meaning?

So, I was doing The Navel trial as a dragoon. During the first aoe attack, I fell off the cliff. So, I spent about 80% of the trial dead. I still got 2 player commendations though.

How should I take these commendations?

1. sarcastic "good job"
2. "poor noob, this will make you feel better"
3. "That fall was amazing!!"
4. other

They mean absolutely nothing.

For all we know, you could simply be the last player they can recommend and they need 5 of these for weekly challenge log.

Maybe your fall just reminded them of their early days fighting Titan and they want to encourage you.

As a DPS, take these rare commendations and go. It is a long journey to the white chocobo.

I usually default to commendate DPS since I play DPS and I know most commendations are either going to tank or healer. I'll usually commendate the sprout DPS if there is one first as well, no matter how they played.

...hell sometimes i comm whoever is closest to my mouse cursor <.< I do comm though, pisses me off when ppl don't comm XD We want them mounts! :P

I routinely com new players just for being new or players who screw up, especially if they're obviously very apologetic and embarrassed about it, as a way of saying no hard feelings. I do also com people who just quietly do an excellent job and I have no problems not comming anyone (though I do try to find a reason to com someone), but basically there are a lot of reasons I'll com someone. I'd never com someone sarcastically though, as if I'm actually annoyed with them I'd rather not reward them in even the most trivial way by giving them a com.
