[QUOTE=Kyuuen;4101095]Using WoW as an example for adding new race/s is a poor choice.

once again this isnt WoW and just cuse one diddnt do well does not mean the other wont do well

if you need an example - any compeating car company -or- any compeating fast food place - or - any compeating supermarket ... the list goes on
also this game execution is so far above WoW that comparing the two is retarded .... WoW had no stratiegic value it was animated like a saturday morning cartoon. it was pay to win. and on top of that the combat was so unrelisticly boring because it was so simple . each and every one of those issues are not present in FFXIV . also this was asked for not just popped up ... as much as one might think online to say no every server ever hub 1 shout and tons will ask for it even to this day

being afraid of change is to invite stagnation ... stagnation leads to bordam . and the finding of new things to play .... u make it sound as if you want FFXIV to fail rather then permote accual growth in the game .... bare in mind the world of eorza is not fully charted and growing that and given the explination of the worlds in story then it stands to reason that both all jobs past used and races past seen should be either present or have a place in history both options to be used or not at their descression.

    Exactly

The only gear that they actually work on each race for is the starter gear/clothes.
People just want to act like the devs are at their limit.

But a new race would not change anything but add another workload hidden behind a paywall for existing players. I would be all for new ways to play the game but forcing me to buy a fantasia to see what the devs have come up with only to find the same gameplay would be bad in the long run.

New races wont add any variance to the game other than making some players have different heads (because lets be honest, any new race wont differ in any significant way from what we have)

I'm very well aware this isn't WoW, which was my point. Because people keep trying to utilize it as a good example.

And adding things simply on the basis of people are asking for it isn't necessarily good either. Some people think raids should be harder. Some think they should be easier. Some think crafting is a monotonous system built on the ideas of torture and masochism. Others think crafting is great fun. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who's ideas should be implemented over anothers?

My point to WoW was that new races are added when they make sense lore wise. Right now we're headed toward Doma and the Azim step from which the Au'ra are from. Add races when it makes sense, not because people want one. We don't need a new race every expansion.

Oh change is definitely welcome to improve things in ff14

    Viera isn't that change.

You talk a good game about how we shouldn't let a company have its way about doing things using a race that is completely aesthetic. If you were talking about QoL or class gameplay designs, I could understand your point but your not.

SE could sit you down about a million reasons as to why they won't add Viera, both technical and personal and you'd still find a way to take offense.

If SE adds aesthetic/fluff things in the game, its by popularity demands. You have a far better chance of changing their minds about wanting Viera by simply stating so rather than arguing about their reasons for not doing it.

Catgirl or bunnygirl, the only difference is you'll have a different tail and different ears. At least you'll both wear the same revealing, skimpy clothes possible regardless of race.

I'm not afraid of change, I'm afraid of the monstrous ear socks they'll ruin hats with if they add viera.

They already don't do a good job with the different races we have. They should fix the messes we have before adding new messes to fix.

More customization options could be new clans to the current races, maybe a "wild" clan to each race, miqote with the soft peach fuzz cat ish face, Au Ru with stronger resemblance to their concept art, or the more obvious of course like new face options, more hairs maybe some more natural curly/wavy hair, horns, beards, chest hair, more and more powerful sliders..

At least personally I feel the game has a signifcant surplus of cute, soft, perfection, and or cuddly and needs more mean, dark, rough, less pristine pop star looks (most of the "tough" we see now is still pretty soft). Although I would note I've seen a lot of requests for Viera :P
I strongly prefer expanding on the races that we have with more options and tribes. Between Roegadyn, Highlander and Aura, there is plenty of scope for less cute and more mean/dark/less pristine looks. For that matter, Miqo'te (especially male) could easily have a less perfect look with more character options and face types.

Putting a lot of effort into another playable race would be a waste IMHO as it would only help the small minority of players hyped to play whichever race that is. While upgrading character customization and adding more tribes/options within the existing races potentially benefits every player in the game - which seems a much more effective use of the development time and effort.
