Also, this is all so useless. Sure it's nice to post a comment on a internet forum saying you care, but I bet 99% of you have done nothing of value to help the situation- no, praying does not apply. That's just an excuse to make you think like you're helping.

What the hell is this subscription crap? Donate to the cause directly if you want to help. It's not a difficult process and SE is no company to handle that stuff. Do something of value or stop being silly.

uh, no.

they don't need money. they can print their own money. it's a government.

if you want to really help out put yourself on a plane and head on over there to donate your time and labor. they can use as much man power as possible to clean up regions affected. i am sure there are humanitarian relief efforts goind on right now for the area.

a 1-way ticket to Japan costs upwards to $1,300+ and that does not cover living expenses, food, and other stuff that atm is severely limited. Going there would be a huge waste of money on your end and you'd just be "In the way" over there using up the little resources they have in this crisis.

If you really wanna support them donate money to a credible organization that is going to send aid their way. I myself dropped $100 at American Red Cross where my mom works just so I can feel that I may have saved someone's life.

As good as it sounds to help pay for the disaster through Square Enix. I would say a vast majority of people would rather donate however much money as they want through RedCross or something. Good proposal though.

Any donations for the relief of people should not be filtered through a commercial company first. This is why we have organizations like the Red Cross. They post their spending publicly and you know that the majority of your donation will go to relief efforts.

I'm not implying that S-E is unethical, but they are run by shareholders who invested money to make money. There's always a chance that a portion of your donation won't go to the relief effort. Not to mention that the Red Cross has a lot more experience in helping people that S-E does. Meaning they can probably do more good with your donation that S-E ever could, simply because of that experience.

I was optimistic about people's reaction. Of course I gave to the Red Cross, 30 € and yet I am a student without coin!

I think that a few people give in reality and it is therefore pointless to invite people to donate. A few will. But if we use a system where your donation becomes an exchange of service, then people give more because they also receive something. That's why I also supported the idea of Evangelus to create buy able items. Everything is good to collectivize solidarity, instead of remaining at individual level, actually quite low.

This idea also came to my mind when I was seeing the musicians in Paris underground. Why people give more to musicians than mere supplicants? Because these musicians offer their service for a few minutes. Because they give a momentary pleasure and it deserves to be rewarded.

My idea was the same. In exchange for the pleasure to play FFXIV, with the money we would pay Square Enix could have donate it. As I mentioned earlier many large corporations already did the same thing. There is no utopia. But collectivization of solidarity is so difficult in a very individualistic society ...

Lets be realistic here, SE is a corporation, corporations like moneys, and right now this game is not making them any moneys, do you really think that if the player base starts paying, that they are going to donate or give 80% of the gains to the japanese goverment or w/e ? NO THEY ARE NOT

If you really wanna help, go to japan, or donate to the people that are really helping, making threads like this, make the player base look like they are hmm i dunno DESPERATE ?

Not to bash them, because it is a pretty cleaver idea, but i did bash blizzard when they sold a pet for $10 and only gave $5 to haiti, the messed up part was that they sold another pet that was 999999 times cooler for $10 and gave nothing to haiti for that one, yet the lame looking one was the one they used as an excuse to suck some money <.<

I hate to tell you this but everyone likes money. Any charity uses money its given for things other then what it is supposed to. The best example of this is Haiti. I would trust SE with my money just as much as I would a real charity organization. I do not believe either would use 100% of my money its intended purpose.
