I'm sorry that you had a bad experience pugging SephEx, but everyone has bad experiences like that. In my opinion, the cross-world PFs haven't increased any toxicity; the toxicity that was there in PFs was already there regardless of cross-world PF. I'm thankful for them because they allowed things like bird farming and learning parties to become easily accessible. My server tended to only have PFs for current EX primals before the cross-world PF, making it difficult to find groups to learn older content. Since the cross-world PF, I not only got the opportunity to learn the fights, I completed my bird collection, too. So I think that, ultimately, it was a good thing. I'd suggest giving it a shot before you shoot it down, if you haven't done so already. I've actually met some pretty awesome people from other servers that I will definitely add to a cross-server friends list if/when it's implemented.

I don't really understand what you mean by your primals comparison. Of course, I would expect extreme primals to have difficult/challenging mechanics, possibly a lot of them, that players need to learn. Otherwise, where's the fun in them being exactly like the Hard Mode counterparts? But none of the mechanics in any of the HW EX primals are particularly difficult things to grasp. Can they be overwhelming at first? Sure they can be; I'd expect them to be (the first time I stepped into Thordan EX I was completely and 100% overwhelmed!). But so were the ARR extreme primals (Titan EX anyone?). They get easier after exposure to the mechanics, and a lot of the mechanics are reused (Sophia EX was designed by the same person who did Leviathan, there's gaze attacks/look away mechanics present, stacking mechanics, etc.).

(I think it's also important for me to note here that you shouldn't base the EX primals off of their Hard Modes. Sophia HM is nothing like EX. EX has mechanics completely new and unique to EX that aren't even present in HM. Zurvan...yeah I kind of feel like his HM and EX are similar. Just EX actually requires you to pay attention and not semi-AFK/Netflix while you're running it. What we find fun and enjoyable is, of course, subjective, but I still think you should at least try out the EX versions before just deciding they won't be enjoyable.)

A lot of the fights require the coordination you desire (Thordan EX, Sephirot EX, Sophia EX, and Zurvan EX). A lot of the fights have repeating patterns (again, see the four I listed), making them pretty easy to learn due to how scripted they can be. Making them even more easier still is the fact that a lot of the primals can be pushed, and mechanics skipped. And the pushing doesn't lead to wipes like Ifrit EX, Ramuh EX, or Levi EX. And that's not even thanks to overgearing. People were pushing/skipping tankbusters in Sophia EX week one. People were skipping soar in Zurvan EX week one. And the mechanics are simple concepts to understand. If I had to say the mechanic I thought to be the most difficult to coordinate, I'd say perhaps Zurvan's Soar mechanic. But that's mostly because people would rather skip than learn/coordinate. /shrug

With regards to you discounting using EX primals as an alternative method to obtaining relative weapons...well. I don't really know what to tell you there. While I think, by this point in the expansion's life, Creator NM's weekly lockout on gears should have been lifted (especially since they unlocked Creator Savage and added Echo), if you choose to not use the other methods provided to you for gearing up, then I don't really know what to tell you. Other than that's your choice, and you should accept that you'll gear up slower than others. That's not really a fault of the lockout; that's your choice and your decision.

With regards to the weekly lockouts, I like that they are in place during the first patch or two of a content's lifespan. It does provide longevity, not only for subscriptions (SE is a business, after all, and businesses are in it to make money; otherwise, they wouldn't be a successful business), but also for the content. It keeps people running it each week to get that one piece of gear they need.

Tome caps are there for similar reasons (keep people running content each week to cap on those tomes), though scripture is still capped and I don't have any use for them. I've geared up the jobs I care to gear up in Shire gear at the moment, so my scriptures mostly just sit there untouched. That, however, is my experience, and I'm not saying the majority of the player base is just sitting on their scripture tomes.

If everything was unlocked from the get-go, there would be those that farm the content nonstop, get the gear they wanted, and then just AFK in Idyllshire, posting here or on Reddit about how there's no lasting content in this game, until the next wave of new content. It's good that the developers sort of force players to pace themselves with regards to new content. I farmed Sophia so hard after I got my clear that I got really burnt out on the fight, and ended up taking a break from the game in general due to burning myself out, and not pacing myself/being patient. (That bird though...I just wanted it so bad. ;_; )
