    i am with the OP.

I came back 3 weeks ago, after a 2 years break from the game because all the limitations this game has, it bored me to hell after i cleared Ravana Ex. We have a single Character which is allowed to Level ALL Classes and Jobs in this Game, but we have a Limitation about obtaining Gear a week. If i main a Tank a Healer and a DPS class, i should be allowed to Gear all 3 of them in the same pace.
It wouldnt be such a big deal, if twinks wouldnt Need to go through the whole Mainstory again.

We had this dicussion even with the release of ARR and alot good ideas came up on the Forum.

    Examples:
1 Raid loot for each Class/Job a Week
Weekly tomes should be for each Class/Job

That beeing said. If SE would ask me, why i stopped Playing their Game ist simply because i cant do what i want to do. I am just playing DoW, so the Content they offering is Alexander Savage (which i dont like because it doesnt feel like a "Raid" just more like Primals), Primals itself (Which i did, no Point doing it since Expansion is near), Dun Scaith and Tomes Farming (450/900 Points) and i am done. 450 Points i farmed within 3 Hours and Dun Scaith just once if i am lucky on drop.

Currently i am just Gearing my DRK, and Keep him rdy for the Expansion. After i am done with the Mainstory on DRK and hit the new Level Cap ill try out RDM and if they still have their stupid limitations and cannot Keep me busy (i am working 50 hours a week) ill just unsub again, but since DRK and RDM were may main classes on FFXI, i wont see me coming back again just for the Story and some other Classes they going to release.

I don't believe the gear lockout on NM is gone. If it is, I'm sitting on 5 gears for no reason lol.

While that would be pretty stupid, it still leaves lockout free ex-primals to get weapons of around the same ilvl...

    It's a buisness model.

There's a reason they make a restriction from my perspective they keep the game in balance:

    Examples:

    Scriptures
currently help maintain a balance in content so that other content can be used by players helping queue times. It also helps prevent an inflation or market crash for items on the market board.

Note: it keeps diversity as well so that dungeons can be used to farm gear or seals for more content. They have raised limits on some and gear can vary from different sources keeping the game fun.

    For turn in of red scripts;

Keeps the game balance as well from the crafting side as well.

    Raids:
There has to be some type of balance to maintaining Hardcore gamer's from overwhelming new / casual players.

From a business perspective: yes it helps maintain subscriptions which helps support the company. If the quality of the game is great they should be rewarded as well. ( Business major)

They have already made raised some caps so for now it seems its well balance until the next expansion comes around were they can lift the current and focus on new content. At least that's how it's been int he past.

It's not just a business model, though it absolutely is. The lockouts are in place to help prevent player burnout.

The weekly caps are going to be lifted, probably in 3.57 which is later this month. Ease back in. There's still TONS of stuff for you to do.

    Alternative ways to gear up.

    Weapons.
    Lowest to Highest.

IL 235 PVP or POTD 4k Wolf Marks or exchanging a 30/30 Aetherpool

IL 255 Sophic(Extreme) or POTD trade in the i235 POTD weapon and 60/60 aetherpool

Gear Wise, it's so much easier now.

i235 PVP gear(Which is decent for something to start with)

I265 RNG gear with random secondary stats from Diaden

i250 Proto-type gear which is unlimited, just get people interested in doing said content.

i260 from weekly tomes and 1 item a week through Dun Scaith

i270 savage content, unlimited, just bluntly get good, gear that can handle the content and you can gear up to your heart's content.

Honestly at this point one could say that skill is being rewarded for gearing up, if you want to gear up all your jobs, now you have a chance, just do Savage Alexander and get all the gear.

As for scrips, doesn't need to be changed, they added achievement main tools for DOL/DOH so you can skip those, as for the gear, if you made gil you could get the HQ version that is DOL, DOH, meaning you only need to get 1 set of each for all classes and at most you might have to work on getting the scrips for the secondary tools.

Overall no changes need to be made, what needs to change are peoples tunnel vision in terms of options, when there are actually a wide variety of options for people to take to gear up, you just have to take the time to realize your options before focusing on the limitations.

It's always amazed me how people complained so much about the fatigue system but have no problem with the weekly lockouts, when this system is not only similar, but arguably worse.

Leveling is pretty different from gearing up at cap. Most people level, but very few raid.

    This.

While I didn't play 1.0, I know about the fatigue system. To me, that is something that actually prevents you from progressing at all in the game. Completely arbitrary and unnecessary. When you're at cap, unless you are a raider progressing in whatever tier of Savage content or EX primal, weekly gear lockouts and tome caps don't have as much restriction as activity hindering a leveling player's ability to level. So I have to respectfully disagree that weekly caps and lockouts are worse than the fatigue system.

Especially with Creator, people were clearing A12S in the crafted 250 gear. Sure maybe they had a piece or two of Shire or Augmented Shire gear, but most of them were probably in the crafted gear, yet they still cleared. Tome and loot lockouts didn't have that much of an impact on those raiders. For content outside of raids and EX primals, there really is no need to be ilvl 270 with a 275 weapon (I mean, unless you want to be, and that's your choice--you just gotta deal with the restrictions in place).. Because the "casual" content in this game barely requires the minimum ilvl, much less the maximum.

I'm sure for returning players that are probably still in Law or Esoteric gear, it's overwhelming to come back and be met with ilvl 250, 260, and 270 gear, and trying to meet minimum ilvl to start farming for current tomestones. However, playing catchup is still very easy, what with the PvP Garo gear, Lore being so easy to come by, and 250 crafted gear for those that are willing to pay for it. If you chose to, or had to, take an extended break from this game, then I do think it's a little unrealistic to expect to return months later and be able to just jump right into current content. Because then, if patch 3.55 content had the same requirements as, say, patch 3.0 content, this game would probably be pretty stale.
