It's still related, some people (mainly those who don't raid alex savage) are just a bit soar that the i270 gobdip upgrade is not freely available to the casual raid and Dun Scaith gear is still locked to a weekly drop.

You can get a i270-275 by doing an anima, learn to clear A11S for a gobdip like all of us did early-on, or even A12S for a i275. Look they can't give away everything on a silver platter, you have to work for this stuff until likely patch 3.57.

Ok going by the poster who said most play 2 hours a day. Tuesday = Cap scrips(can be done in 2/3 hours. Wednesday = Dun scaith if lucky will get drop . Thursday/Friday 2 days of savage. Within 3/4 days at 2 hours a night majority of the content is done. Now yes can do bird farming or pvp but then just replace that with the scrip farming and you kill two birds with one stone.

So now the argument is go craft etc for the rest of the week, yet if you don't need gil then that's out of the question too. So all that is left is either talk to friends, help others or go play another game. It's ok having it casual friendly but at present it is too casual friendly. But like I said earlier I come across more players that play 3/4 hours a night.

So no 450 scrips is not enough that either needs to be 900 or 450 per class. Story raid/Savage should let us get 2 drops per week change it to a 72hr reset.

If only they could remove the cap on the machi weekly. Only thing that limits me from doing anything, really. Cap can stay at 900, doesn't matter for me, i can barely reach 700 in a week lol.

At this stage, I'd prefer to be getting all jobs/classes into the best gear/weapons ready for SB - if the arr-hw change was anything to go by, I'd rather be in a position to choose a new main or concentrate more/less on craft gather. The tome limit raise was helpful, but still having locks like dun scaith gear, or the farthings, or the alex weapon drop seems pointless at this stage. For DOL/DOH nothing has changed, they are still at eye-dropper stage. I'm assuming we'll see one more update where it will be free-for-all, but time is runing out for that to be useful.

It's not pointless though, because it rewards skill over time. If you have the skill to do Alexander you can get your gear capped quicker, if you don't have the skill or interest then suck it up and do the capped scriptures/Dun Scaith. it's honestly as simple as that, the variety offered is done in such a way that those who challenge themselves are rewarded with the ability to gear up quicker but those who don't choose the Savage path have to abide by the limitations of the weekly caps.

Scriptures should be supposed to be bonus gear from instances runs, not a gearing up path. Otherwise, any other gearing up methods would become trivial since you could cheese the whole loot system by farming Scripts that you're assured to get after each instance. If you want to gear up, you have to look for all ways to get gear.

And even with the lockout, gearing up is relatively easy and fast.

Getting DoL/DoH scrip purchases have never been easier with Zhloe's turn-ins every week, you barely have to work at-it. Red scrips had been nerfed to the ground for months. You only need it for goblin cup upgrades or if you want Tier V materia. So to say nothing has changed is a bit of fallacy.

If you don't have the skill to do Alexander Savage, then I don't see why you are complaining. This isn't a free lunch pass for those who can't do Savage. The game rewards skill, and that isn't a bad thing at-all. We've had i270 gear and i275 weapons for six months now if you worked for it.

You can learn to even do Zurvan EX for an i265, for free, you can get weapons for every job you have.

You can do an anima like many have, including raiders.

There are options for everyone to get gear and weapons.

If you want to live by the "free, little easy skill" options, that is your decision. You can wait at the back of the line, the last patch of this xpac for the free raid unlock.

Yes its really easy to get red scrip now but since you get them easy you will reach the weekly limit even faster. I am not doing much fighting content anymore (some pvp battles and some dungeons for friends) so crafting and gathering should be content that will keep me logged in till SB. Yet even though HW is coming to an end its still all limited. They could at least put the limit at 900 or something. Not sure why they did that with the stones but not for the scrips..

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

The older red scrip set(i180) is now uncapped though. (It's in blue scrips now) You just have to grind reds for the upgrade items so it's not like they did nothing.

You can also bypass the caps by crafting or buying ironworks stuff and melding it. Yeah, you can't craft it right away and it costs a bit of money if you are just starting but it is sort of rewarding people who dealt with the cap of the crafting scrips since the beginning.

Yep, you can get all the i180 DoH/DoL tools blue-scrip uncapped, those used to be red script capped but were moved to blue scrips several patches ago.

It's the i200 augumented upgrades (goblin cups) that is limited by red scripts weekly. That still makes sense because in this situation with the push down of scrips you can practically upgrade one-hand/piece a week to 4* crafting level. Ideally you should craft or procure Ironworks body gear and use scrips for tools if you have to penny-pitch gil. The best option overall is to just craft the four-star tools, and with the speciality locks abolished it's even easier.

The path to 4* isn't as daunting as it once was, but we are also so late in the patch that most profit from such crafts have taken a nose dive, save for consumables. But it's also nice to do if you want to omni-craft anything in the game at this point and get a leg-up on leveling 60+ crafts in SB.
