Fatal DirectX Error 11000002 - Still Happening

Note: please do not move this thread to "Resolved Issues" as it is not resolved.
So, I have had this error fairly consistently in DX11 mode.
I have a GTX 1080, am running Windows 10, and am using no overlays.
I have tried every single fix I have found out there, yet none seem to work.
    Things I have tried:
    1. Changing the power settings for my GPU
    2. Changing the power settings for PCI ports
    3. Changing the graphics settings themselves to nearly every possible recommended configuration.
    4. Updating GPU drivers
    5. Completely installing GPU drivers
    6. Windows updates
    7. Reinstalling FFXIV

After doing #7, crashes disappeared for a while. However, one day, a Goobbue mount in the Slyphlands sneezed on me. As it turns out, the error still occurs, but now I've only been able to replicate it in Larkscall and the Slyphlands of E Shroud when at least two animations are going on at once. The 100% repeatable one I've found is to kill a Sylphlands Sentinel with a dot while simultaneously casting at something else or activating an item of some kind. The moment the Sylphlands Sentinel dies, it triggers the 11000002 error.

The only fix I have seen that I haven't yet tried is reinstalling Windows 10, and I'm not about to reinstall my entire OS just for one game, when every other game I have functions without issue. And yes, I could play in ugly DX9 mode, but one would think a nearly top-of-the-line GPU would expand one's graphical options, not limit them. This error has been known for a very long time, and since it seems most likely a runtime issue, it's neither Nvidia's problem, nor Microsoft's. I would definitely appreciate some sort of support so I can play this game again.

UPDATE: Apparently, my game also crashes when exiting the /sundropdance cutscenes for the Vanu dailies. Exciting! Also, apparently just being in the Slyphlands can cause it to crash. Just standing there.

UPDATE #2: Now dungeons are crashing me again. After looking into all suggestions, I haven't yet found anything that stops the issue. I suppose I really will have to reinstall windows JUST for this one friggin' game... I love it, but it's ludicrous that it alone has such stability issues, while no other games I have do.

    I had same same issue and this was my solution;

First make sue drivers on GC are up to date, go get the latest Direct X, should be 12.

Make sure your GC matches both your Monitor and game settings as well this can sometimes conflict or cause those problems. After I cross referenced these and insured everything was up to date I haven't had any problem since. Also if your system isn't a 64 bit you may need to lower some other specs. Try running benchmark on it to insure your not over running your GC which can cause that problem.

Also, going to the manufacturers website for drivers updates is good too. Microsoft's driver auto-update doesn't always grab ever single driver out there. The manufacturers website will have the most up-to-date drivers.

Thank you, but everything is up to date, DX, my GC drivers, all of it, updated from the GC manufacturer. I have a 64bit system, so I don't have that problem. What do you mean about settings matching? I have my resolution set to my monitor's specifications. I'm not sure I follow. And are you referring to the old HW Official Benchmark, or something else? Last time I ran it, it just popped out a score and quality.

Edit: Running the HW Benchmark again using my current settings popped out "Extremely High, 10830" without any issues occurring.

Also as a note, I'm using the optimal settings recommended to me by Nvidia GeForce Experience, so it shouldn't be over what the card can handle.

I know you said you disabled the overlays, but seeing how you mentionned Geforce Experience, I need to ask again: Are you sure you disabled the GeForce overlay? Also, did you try running the game on DX9 instead?

Yes. The GeForce Experience overlay is disabled. And DX9 runs without errors, but as I said, it seems silly to me that I have to run the game with far worse graphics settings than when I had a 7 year-old GPU.

In that case it's possible the issue lies within a compatibility issue between one of your programs and ffxiv. It's weird, but I can't dismiss the possibility. Or it's one of the patch files that causes this and will need to wait for an hotfix.

to add to this make sure you do a clean install, do no use the nvidia software to do a driver install, sooner or later it will corrupt the driver. google "clean gpu driver install" and you should get some guides and software recommendations to do so.

will admit this game and nvidia drivers just seem to not get along well for me though XD my radeon before upgrading didn't give me as much hassle, though admittedly that was before the dx11 client.

For example the settings from my monitor can vary. I had to change the type of port. From HDMI to Display port. I have a LG 27UD68-P 27" 16:9 4K UHD FreeSync IPS Monitor which conflicted with the graphics card settings. I had to manually go in and made sure everything matched with settings / monitor/ and game settings ( a pain ) before it gave me no problems. Sometimes the data transfers can cause DX to crash either do to the information being transmitted and your system catching up to it on the back ground. There could be times for example your switching zones and thing freeze up or doesn't appear to be loading while the sound contradicts and you can hear it on the back ground, crops or walls missing ect. Seems that out of all my games FFXIV is the one where I had to run a special profile settings when being played so it runs properly. It can be a bother but love playing it in 4k. Also is your GTX 1080 an MSI , ASUS, EVGA ? Try using a Display port if you can it helped me after I was stuck like you myself were I couldn't figure it out after matching everything.

Did a second clean install, again not using Geforce Experience to get the driver. Still crashing from running through the Sylphlands.
