Problems with access square account

Hi guys i have a problem, precisely my friend has a problem.
He don't remember his ID and password, so he use form for recover id and pass using mail, but... he receive message his mail is not linked to ff14 account.
How can be possible? maybe because he not log in since 1 year?

It's not that, because I just logged into my account again after 2 years. I'm pretty sure it requires you to supply an email when an account is created, so maybe it's a different email? I've used multiple emails for games before. If not, I'd just get a hold of Square Enix support. The only other idea that comes to mind is if someone got his account and changed the email account.
