You couldn't be more right than this. You nailed it.
This is exactly why it is the way it is in XIV.
On other PC only MMORPGs people talk much more (be it calling your mom names or be it casually friendly :P)
Funny that, I'm on console and have always been on console and talk via keyboard more than any player I know. Of course, I'm more or less a touch typist that this point, so I can keep up while tanking.
Agree here. I have a Bluetooth keyboard for my PS4 (Microsoft Sculpt Mobile Keyboard (T9T-0000)) and I can chat on it just fine. Only annoying bit is having to put down and pick up the controller, so I can't move quickly if I need to and am typing something out.

I'm on PS4 too and I have tried the big toe keeps pressing "F" and "G" at the same time
I have my original bluetooth Logitech keyboard/touchpad from my PS3, I had to get new keytops for it a while back, but it is still going like a champ and the PS specific keys still do what they should.Agree here. I can type one or two words one handed while still moving.
That Logitech keyboard is excellent, a pity that most bluetooth keyboards are now shrunken for tablet use, mine is a full size keyboard with a touchpad for 'mouse' use.
Logitech Cordless PS3 Mediaboard Pro
This is the best keyboard for PS I have found, you can still get them, but even used they are $30. It's well worth it though, a pair of AA batteries lasts for months, and the keyboard automatically goes into standby and awakens when you type.
You know, I actually have this keyboard and I hate it. Yes, it goes standby on its own, and then it takes absolutely ages to come out of it. To the point where I've had to create a macro for my end of dungeon greeting because by the time the keyboard comes back on half the party has already left.I have my original bluetooth Logitech keyboard/touchpad from my PS3, [...]

Hmm.... it had got a lot better with one of the firmware updates for PS4, but I must admit it has been a bit slower lately. You know, I actually have this keyboard and I hate it. before we pull the last boss i typically press one of the arrow buttons on the keyboard, so it activates (without typing something in the chat) and i can type when the fight is over to say good bye without waiting xD
