Most of the parties I get in df will stops at the initial greetings, and a good number of people does not even bother to answer them.

Are your runs that way? Do you prefer run silently but with maxed efficiency? Am I wrong?

here in mana datacentre we just greet each other at the start and end df duty. and for RF trial ex and savage content most of the time we just state our position based on the macro and then there's no other talking outside of saying sorry or telling the team certain adjustments midfight if things came up. we're used to the sound of silence here so i'd take quiet good and swift runs over chatty and lengthy ones since it's what i'm used to

and i don't think anyone is wrong for wanting a quiet or chatty run, it all depends on your region and what you prefer

Unless it's necessary(or I can reply with something short like "Thanks"), I don't usually chat with strangers in the game. In or outside of dungeons. I always have conversations going with friends on multiple IMs(Groupme, Skype, Discord IMs), discord voice and TS. Sometimes I don't notice a IM until 24 hours after it was sent. Which is terrible because sometimes I post here before noticing them. lol. Forums are slow paced and different... that's my excuse. <_<;

I guess tl;dr I'm already being social just not in party chat.

I myself don't mind a good conversation during a dungeon but like an earlier commment, If I happen to be tanking on a dungeon.. There's a good chance I won't be saying much at all because i'm to busy trying to protect my party, holding Enmity, etc etc. Any other time is fine lol some may mention healing as well, but if you've got a good healer then its not even a problem lol

Yeah, happens with me too. Makes me very anxious since you can't gauge if they're friendly people whom will forgive mistakes, or unforgiving people whom might kick you the first mistake you make. Anxiousness on top of already having my social anxiety with grouping with people for mandatory dungeons, etc... I often wonder how I managed to force myself through all that to get up to date with the storyline. Many times I'd just quit the game with feelings of it being impossible to progress like this. I think it's in part due to the rare moments when I'd see a Kingdom Hearts fan in party, and then we'd just talk about Kingdom Hearts while we did the duty... wish I had more of those moments in-game... then maybe I wouldn't be so anxious.

I always start with a "Rally-ho!" and end with a "{Thank you!}". I don't feel it's that much of a stretch to expect a simple hello/goodbye in return. I don't talk during a run unless it's to go over a strat with a first-timer. Tanking and talking for me results in deaths lol.

If you don't greet me and the rest of the party at the start or say thanks or bye at the end, my comm is going to someone else. It's a pet peeve of mine.

With the frequency in which players receive temporary suspensions in this game over the most benign and juvenile reasons, I don't blame anyone for not speaking in this game outside of their FC and LS chats.

Getting suspended over using a profanity in a game which has a profanity filter set to default (which means the offended person would have had to turn their filter off to see the very thing they're offended by) is just one example.

It's almost as if people can't wait to be offended. So many just don't take the risk of even offering pointers as to not be construed as "harassment".

Be nice maybe?
It seems like you enjoy offending people and then get upset when they get mad and reports you.

And if one gets suspended over what one says, I doubt it's benign in any way -.-

Sometimes the silence is good.
As for dungeon runs, Japanese people are cute and can be pretty chatty but not so much that nothing gets done or DPS lacks.

Well do you want me to deal damage or entertain you? Both doesn't work. Especially with 3.x, having added more buttons to most of the jobs, you'll have to pay more attention compared to ARR content. Unless you want me to macro every single rotation, I would either stand around "chit chatting" and the run takes nearly an whole hour, or we get it done in time and do not chat. Take a guess what most people pick
