i think something like a mortar as an alternative weapon would be a fantastic idea. perhaps even making mortars, or explosion-based weapons, a secondary off hand tool for the class.

it could either work like a turret placement, or perhaps a quickly drawn weapon.

either way, it sounds like a great idea.
