    Aethernets (breaks immersion)

It might only be me but they really ruin the sense that you're in a city. I know they wanted to make everything really fast in FFXIV but this is one thing I've never liked. Were a lot of people asking for aethernets to travel in seconds? Just feels like they make the cities too small and you never get a real sense of the city. For example Ishgard is basically Forgotten knight, crozier, and astrologicum. But if we actually had to move around we would move around other areas to get to other areas.

Just feels like one of those things that are here to stay but was a bad decision.

You don't have to use them if you don't want to.

I hate it when people use their own perception as a basis of fact...

If you feel that it makes the city small, then don't use them. The cities will forever be small no matter who you talk to, because games have a limited sense of exploration mechanically.

Fast travel in any game is definitely something that is immersion breaking in my opinion, I will grant you that.

However, the alternative is having to physically walk everywhere like back in FFXI (the few teleports notwithstanding) and given the option, I'll stick with the immersion breaking fast travel because it's just far too convenient.

You can always just not use them. If they wanted they could make the athernet system cost 10X the gil cost

Well the new city coming in SB will be entirely seamless and even have open rooftops. That is a step in the right direction.

Also while having a massive city is great for a sense of the world, Do you want to spend god knows how many minutes walking from place to place just trying to get simple stuff done? It will add up to hours of time wasted just for the sake of a big city. I am personally fine with a cut down city. Just use the horizon to display how big the city is, no need to be able to go everywhere.

Lore-wise, aethernets are there for the denizens of Hydaelyn to enjoy comforts instead of taking half a day to a day just to walk to the crozier from the gates of Ishgard. It's no different than us using elevators, cars or bikes. Only it's magic and almost-instant.

(Ok. Slight exaggeration. Took me 43 minutes in Eorzean time to go from the gate next to Skysteel Factory to the gatekeeper NPC while walking. Actual walking, no passing through NPCs, walking down stairs like I would in icy weather, not jumping over ledges like I'm a parkour addict. On a ninja, so I was actually travelling a little faster.)

<_< ya. . . it's hard to say it's immersion breaking when the ability to teleport in said fashion is used in the MSQ.

I think we have way too many teleports within the towns but having some isn't bad. Plus teleporting is within the lore so at least it makes sense.

Sidenote: I find it hard to not use teleports/aethernets even as much as I try. I attempted it a while back I last a couple months, so telling someone not use them isn't really an easy thing. Or I'm just WEAK and have no will power, thats fine too!

Just want to make clear, Aetheryte and Aethernet are 2 different things.
