I think less of them would be fine, I do like to be reminded of the scale of things but its one of those funny things where like if you had a strategy on a boss that was really fast but a bit meh vs one that was a bit more time consuming but made you appreciate all the mechanics more.. nearly everyone, even the people who specifically say they like the slower version, would pick the first faster one. It's just one of those things..

Also making the old cities seamless again would be awesome :3

Seamless cities would be cool, but I don't think I would like seamless zones. Making every zone connected obviously to the next causes some pretty weird geography like the seemingly endless featureless mountains in WoW. In FFXIV every subzone of every zone has something interesting and unique. WoW achieves this with some pretty freaky geography, but I prefer FFXIV's much more toned down landscapes.

Sometimes I do a "tour" without use the Aetherite. The time takes go to one point to another is insane. I think is better just let the Aethernet as is.

Here's your immersion: you still have to walk to the Ul'dah market board area.

Haha indeed. Uldah is such a horrible city if you are going for market boards. Limsa's board is a few steps away when porting into town.

Personally the aetheryte thing doesn't bother me but what bothers me instead is how even a city is split into several macro areas.

So instead of focusing on that, how about removing loading screens from the city and areas and make them bigger (gw2 does it pretty well if you ask me)

I think with that out of the way, the immersion would be much higher regardless of the ather-whatever being present or not. But I digress.

Fast travel, immersion breaking in a fantasy game full of magic? The games lore explains how it works. It doesn't make the world any less believable.

Sorry but I strongly disagree with the lack of teleportation in such games. I think it's just you and few others.
I played BDO and hated it for numerous reasons and one of them was the lack of teleportation.
There is nothing immersive or fun looking at your horse running for 15 mins to get from one point of the map to another.
Imagine XIV without teleport when you have to deliver multiple Quests to different NPCs in different areas or trying to catch a hunt or a FATE.
Yes it's not working. Devs know a lot of things way better than what we think we do.

BDO was never built with quick playtime in mind. Majority of the community praise the devs for not adding quick travel. There really isn't anything in the open world other than world bosses that require teleportation anyway. They have recently added teleport maps that do teleport you to the nearest town but have a 6hr cool down and are a 1 time use unless you get another. The KR version also recently received a gliding type horse so that makes traveling much quicker I would think, granted it takes a lot of work to breed it and fight the RNG gods. The people who complain about BDO don't take the time to breed horses for skills or enhance barding pieces for better stats.

On topic: As I said earlier aethernets are fine but we don't need so many, 1 for every general area in town would probably be more than enough, some walking won't kill you guys

If the cities were single maps AND all of the shops and such were relatively close together OR we could use mounts in Ul'dah and the rest, I'd be fine with it. As it stands, going from the main Atheryte to, say, the Alchemist guild is a trek... Arcanist guild to Black/Armorsmith? Really long trek. Even with my BRD and Swiftsong, getting around these towns is a major headache on foot, they're just not designed well for it.
