This should easily be doable. Hellfire only pops about 2.5k damage without sentinel.
Defender (MRD 10) and Stoneskin (from your mages) should mitigate about 600-800 damage.
If the DD stack on top of one of the mages following this for a curaga 2 and pray your tits off that he does a tripple dash so you have time to recover your hp/mp
I would say that the tank at least definitely needs it(sentinel) if you have some DD that dont.
You will also likely need 3 mages to pull it off without LNC. A fight like that is likely to be in the 15-20 minutes time range assuming it goes smoothly and you'll need to be droping extra cures on the DD that may be getting seared.
My group has done it with 2lnc 2mrd 1pug 2con 1tha
notably 1 of the lancers, 1 of the marauders, the pugilist and 1 conjurors did not have sentinel. we still beat it fine.

I havent got a link, but yes its doable
Its questions like these I think:
BlueGarter...was a blessing, what a mother&%$#ing curse...
Yes like mentioned it is very doable without sentinel, but your tank will more than likely have it (because its a tanking ability) The most important thing is getting rid of one of the nails. Honestly I find it to be more fun without a group of Sentinel elitists, I'll take the extra time for the fun factor any day.

ANYWAYS. Yeah it's doable, you'll probably want to roll with MRDs for Defender II, good DPS, and their high HP. Be ready to have 1 or 2 of your healers do back-to-back Curaga on melee right after Hellfire. It'll help if you make sure all your melee stay generally clumped-up right before Hellfire pops, and then have your mages already casting Curaga on the party as they take dmg. Like said above, Stoneskin II.
How is it their fault? That strategy is objectively the easiest, fastest, and safest way to kill Ifrit. It has nothing to do with who released the video. Even if they had released a video with a less than effective strategy, everyone would have still gravitated to Lancer burn eventually once the method is refined.

nobody said it was their fault. they have given alot of help to the community. How is it their fault? That strategy is objectively the easiest, fastest, and safest way to kill Ifrit. the statement is more about the fact that the community takes the video and turns things into arc or lnc only parties. it's not fair to blue garter nor the rest of the players, but that's what happens. most people are just too scared to try something different so they want to only use the easiest route. the lancer only and arc only parties are the fault of the community not blue garter.
to answer the op, yes, it is doable, but at this point i doubt anyone's going to be willing to make the video. i'm over 250 kills myself and am actually quite sick of doing ifrit as is most of my ls at this point. the only reason we still do it at all is grinding it to get everyone all the weapons. we did experimentation earlier and can verify it is possible, but didn't do video because it's really not worth it.

Don't get me wrong TheFatHouseCat I appreciate and respect all the hard work that BlueGarter puts forth and shares with the public, I've been using that website for valuable information since FFXI. I just hate it when people take their ways of victory as doctrine and covet it like the last supper. :/
But maybe I'm just too out of the box and experimental x_x; I meant no offense.
