I assume its going to be like the last event. So I think it will only work with JP accounts.

That depends entirely on what it is. For the maid/butler/fat chocobo campaign I had all three of the magazines shipped to Japan so I could get everything (though that was a nightmare). If they did something like Amazon purchases you could just buy something to be delivered to a friend/family member (I wish I had done that for the magazines as it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper/easier).

Plus on the last french campaign some offered to players that could no go to the Meltdown to do it for them for free (no charge for the action of going to the Meltdown so no RMT)
They just had to pay for the drinks that needed to be buy to get the codes so everyone was happy, those who went get drunk "for free" and those who could not go obtained there code ^^

I, too, live in Japan, and I am stuck with using an EU account that I made over 10 years ago to play FFXI, while living in Australia at the time. I have tried (even though I knew it was futile) to have my account changed (getting paid from my job in yen, but paying for this game in euros sucks....), and to no surprise I was flat out refused.

I'm ok with having these kinds of cross-company promotions.. just STOP region locking them, and punishing people who move to another country/region for family/work/personal/etc reasons. If I live in Japan, I should be able to have the same rights as anyone with a JP account to participate in the promotion being held in my country of residence

I live in Austria, I should be able to have the same rights as anyone with a JP account...
We are one community, we are playing the same game. Giving one region Items that others don't get produces ressentiments. Why? Because we see them posing with their cool mounts next to us. Jealousy is one of the most powerful human emotions.
Square Enix should not divide the community into two different communities, Japanese players with cool things and the rest staring at them.
We are not second-class human and we shouldn't be treated as such.
