I'll try being a red mage, but if I don't like the gameplay then I'll play black mage.

Both, starting with Samurai.
While Monk will stay as my "main" I'm going to give Samurai a shot once I got through the 4.0 story and got my crafters/gatheres to 70.
I got most of the ironworkers monk gear on my retainers (which will only be used for the Job quests thanks to PotD) and will just keep my current 270 Monk gear for Samurai once he get's to 60.![]()

Not going to switch my main (White Mage for life o/) but I will be trying Red Mage to see if it will become my go-to DPS job for fights where we only need one healer and what not.
I'll try both to see if I like them, if I don't end up liking them I'll probably just continue with the same classes I ended up mainly using in HW...
In answer to the OP's question... NO.

I plan on avoiding clone threads when I see them.
Does great for my postcount though.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
I've been planning on playing a samurai since I started playing FFXIV 7 years ago. -_-
I'm already a melee main and something new would be fun, so I'm totally open to maining SAM if I end up enjoying it after I try it. If not, NIN or DRG are always there!
I might try them once they been out for while but not at launch.
